The leak probably is the water pump. You won't have heat if the radiator is low on coolant. Get it checked out as soon as possible. The water pump is driven by the timing belt.
If your car requires dex cool, than that is what you need to use. If not then don't. Different coolant types each have different lubricants for the pump. Have you checked the belt tension? Changed hoses?Made sure pump is receiving water?
It is a possibility that the leak may come from bad seals from the water pump or a bad water pump. If you also observe bubble in the coolant inside the radiator when the car is running or water coming out of the exhaust you may have a bad head gasket. The coolant comes out of the bad part of the head gasket near the outside which lets water outside the engine as well.
YOU HAVE TO REMOVE TIMING BELT AND IDLER PULLEY.YOU NEED TO REPLACE TIMING BELT WHEN YOU REPLACE WATER PUMP.TO REPLACE WATER PUMP. DRAIN COOLANT SYSTEM.REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE.REMOVE TIMING BELT AND IDLER PULLEY.UNBOLT AND REMOVE THE WATER PUMP.CLEAN ANY GASKET MATERIAL OR SEALANT RESIDUE FROM THE WATER PUMP MATING SEALING SURFACES.WHEN INSTALLING NEW WATER PUMP BESURE TO USE A SEALANT ON BOTH SIDES OF WATER PUMP GASKET TO KEEP IT FROM LEAKING COOLANT.TORQUE WATER PUMP BOLTS TO 13 FT LBS IN A TWO STEP CRISSCROSS SEQUENCE.INSTALL THE IDLER PULLEY.TIGHTEN THE MOUNTING BOLT TO 31 FT LBS.INSTALL AND TENSION THE TIMING BELT.INSTALL THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE.REFILL BLEED THE COOLANT SYSTEM.
this is most likely the water pump if it is leaking at front of engine, the water pump is under the large timing belt cover and driven by the timing belt, so both are changed at the same time.
If you have seen the signs of leakage around the water pump thn its worth replacing it being that far already.
Its better too, to flush the radiator.
Usually if the seal blows thts the end of the pump even if it looks ok!
with my experiance on these engines it's usually the upper outlet hoses running from the heads into a t then into the upper radiator hose they are pain to replace but 3 out of 3 of my v6 isuzu's have had the same problem you'll have to pull off the theromstat and the coil pack the hoses are very small and run from the end of the heads one on each into a t then into the radiator hose just under the housing
