The gap should be 0.8 - 0.12 but some brands of spark plugs when buy them for a car of different makes and models the gaps on plugs are preset

For the 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix:
I do not know if you have the 3.1L V6 or the 3.8L (including Super Charger) V6; however I have included both below...

For the 3.1L V6:
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:

For 2.4L-- Allow a gap of 1.27 mm (0.050 in).

Tighten the spark plugs to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
Apply dielectric lubricant GM P/N 12345579 (Canadian P/N 1974984 or equivalent to the insulator boots.

the coils from left to right (as your standing in front of the car) are 5-2-3-6-4-1
the front cylinders from left to right are 2-4-6
the rear cylinders from left to right are 1-3-5

.060 (In thousandths of an inch) Caution! Gap is not adjustable on certain plug brands. Torque the plugs with a torque wrench no more that 15 ft lbs.

Where are the spark plugs located on a grand am 2004?

4 cylinder 2.2 liter? there will be a cover that can be removed on top of the valve cover. Once that is removed the spark plugs can be accessed.
