Its way in the back below the alternator sometime you have to pull the engine forward to reach it but its there look down with a flashlight and you will see a black cap with orange writing on it that says "power Steering"

check that the drive belt is in good condition and tensioned properly. check fluid level in reservoir. have a pressure test done on the system to determine it the pump is working.
If you recently added power steering fluid, this is a very common issue that many people come across. Power steering fluid is very commonly over filled. When the fluid reservoir is overfilled, it will flow right out over the top of the reservoir when you make a full turn either right or left. When this occurs, it gets onto your belt {s} and is then transferred all over the engine vie the belt and the air being blown back over your engine by your fan. If it is not an overfilling issue, then you have either a loose pressure line, a ruptured pressure line, a bad crimp on a pressure line or your fluid reservoir O-ring and body have somehow become separated. Pressure lines are typically easy to replace. If it is the pump and fluid reservoir, then unless you have experience at working on automobiles, I would suggest taking it to your mechanic.
The fluid goes in power steering pump reservoir. Its located to the rear of engine passenger side.Passernger side of engine - upper left side underneath the alternator .next to the belt.------Thanks.Helpmech.
With engine off power stering pump located on engine. remove cap. cap will have a dip stick attached add "GM" power stering fluid a little at a time. wipe dip stick clean reinsert and remove check by using the high oil line the the marking on the dip stick. do not over fill
You must have a 3.8l engine. Its on the passenger side of the engine about half way down on the fire wall side. A 3.1l is on the top of the engine on the passenger side.
What you hae to do is check if the reservoir is leaking first if okthen it is either the piping or the steering pump. It is a process of elimination, you may need to clean the area first to discover where the leak is or work back from the point it is leaking on the belt. Until you identify where the leak is coming from it will be dificult to repair unless you just start to replace the pump and reservoir any way.
Locate the cap to the power steering fluid reservoir
Remove cap and fill reservoir with GM Power Steering Fluid (P/N 89021184) or any fluid a knowledgeable parts department says is compatible. It may not look like much but there are a few dozen steering fluids available out there and lots of systems aren't compatible with many of them (wrong fluid will disintegrate seals, pumps, etc...)
