1993 toyota pickup 3vze engine will not start when cold outside above fourty degrees it will start

33 to37psi with engine idling and vacuum hose to reg. connected. 38 to 44psi Key on, Engine off.

Do you have a good battery? Cold weather is hard on batteries. Also you may need to change to a winter grade of oil. Oil thickens in the cold a makes starting difficult as well. Let me know. Thanks.

There are a few thing that can cause this problem. Not knowing what engine you have all I can give you is generic things to check. Fuel filter, make sure it flows well; spark plugs, make sure they are in good shape; air filter, make sure it is in good shape. Beyond that I need the engine to go deeper into it.

you need to have the Engine Coolant Temperature switch checked,since the computer relies solely on sensors,the ect tells the computer how cold or hot it is so the computer will make it a rich or lean mixture to start the engine,if it tells the computer that it is 75 degrees the computer will lean the mixture like starting a car in the winter without a choke.

the trans will not allow overdrive until coolant reaches roughly 180 degrees, if the guage shows cool and the trans is not upshifting, or downshifts to third while driving. the problem is either a sticking (or missing) thermostat. follow the lower radiator hose to the engine and find the three 12mm nuts, remove these to get to it. a new toyota t-stat will have a little bleed valve on its face. position it upwards when installing. hope this is helpful.

My first guess would be a dirty carb/fuel injector set. Run some fuel cleaner through the tank and see if it gets better. You might have to do it through a couple of tanksful. How long since you've had a tune-up? It might just be that time.
