I have a new key fob, which I bought on ebay for a Chrysler PT cruiser 2005 convertible. It has 3 buttons - i.unlock and disable alarm, ii.lock and enable alarm and iii.open boot (it does not have a panic button as mentioned in one of the solutions)
I need to programm the new fob. I would be grateful for any soltions (not involving an expensive visit to the Chryler dealer).
    Many thanks

If you don't have one that works for the vehicle now, you'll have to take it to your local dealer to have it programmed to the vehicle. Some will charge for this, some will do it at no charge.

If you do have a remote that is programmed and working for the vehicle, then the following steps will allow you to program another remote:

1. Enter vehicle and close all doors.

2. Put seatbelt on (or clip it into the buckle) to shut the warning buzzer off.

3. Put key in ignition, turn to run position but don't start it.

4. Press and hold the unlock button on the working key fob and hold for 4 seconds, then also press the panic button.

5. Release both buttons and you should hear a single chime to indicate it is in program mode. You have 30 seconds after the chime to program any additional remotes you want to program.

6. Press and release both the unlock and lock buttons simultaneously on the remote you are programming. You should hear another single chime.

7. Within 4 seconds after hearing the chime, press either lock or unlock button on remote that you are programming.

Alarm on my 1998 vw sharan keeps sounding off and the drivers door sometimes willnot lock with remote///////can i disable it ////can iturn alarm sensor down so its not so sensitive/////please help its...

When did you last change the battery in your remote key fob. As strange as this may sound, if your battery is slightly down in power, it will not give a full signal to your alarm/imobiliser/central locking. Because you are begining to have problems with your remote central locking, this is a good indication that this could be your problem. You can get a battery anywhere, but they are only pennies from your local VW dealer.

Imobiliser problem

If im not mistaken, your car should have an alarm reset/override.Below the steering column,on the dash should be a slot where you put your remote transmitter to deactivate the alarm. If that works, you then need to have your remote checked and coded by a vw dealer.Good luck.
