Have a 2004 GMC ENVOY XL and I have similiar issues with a loud air sound when I start the suv but mine does not seem to stop after a few minutes and seems to get louder when I go up hills etc. The serive engine soon light has now come on and stays on. I am afraid to drive the envoy. Please help!!

is it possible you have the air shock style suspention you can tell by the large rubber boot on the shock if so one could have a leak and your hearing the on board compressor running constantly 220/min seems mechanical hope this helps
check to see if there is spark by removing a spark plug wire and attaching a spark tester that you can buy from a local parts store for a dollar or two
