Ok you will have to have it scanned. It probably has cylinder misfire codes and random cylnder misfires. You could need spark plugs and or coils. The scan will tell you exactly which cylinder is missing. That will cure your problem and remember to change your oil and filter right before you go in for the smog test. Also if the car hasn't been serviced in a while it would be a good idea to replace the air filter and fuel filter.

either you have alot of weight in the trunk all the time or your rear struts are blown

Basically a failure of the Evap System to hold pressure
or vacuum.

You check for codes, then smoke test the system & check
all hoses,valves & solenoids, to find something wrong

The on board computer (pcm or ecm) has run a test, either
while you drive or while your sleeping & has detected a problem

How to reset computer on Saturn 2001 LS - did not pass air pollution test. Three codes came up P0133, P0341, P0442. The car runs fine. Check engine light is on.

Resetting the computer isnt going to fix anything. Get it repaired. If you reset it, it still will not pass if the monitors have not run and passed.

I have 2003 BMW 325i want start when i went to get an inspection sticker it would not read so i went back to were i brought it from they check it out something was unplugged the radio would not stay set...

sounds like it may have europeon software in which case only a dealer can read it with special software so no OBDII readings available and the only way to do the emmisions test is to run engine at 2500 rpm and then put a probe up the exhaust and use a gas analyser ,or take it back to BMW dealer and ask them to do the test for you ,if the immobilisor light is on then its a _BMW only job as the immobilisor uses encrypted software

I have a 2002 vw passat and it wont pass emisions jiffy lube said its most likely the catilic converter but i took it in to the deler thay hooked it up to there computer and ran a test on it and it said it...

if the dealer says it is good! i.m sure they know what they're talking about! sounds like jiffy lube is trying to get the best of you! i'd take it somewhere else!

97 Buick Lesabre, had emmisions test done (which it passed) as soon as leaving emmisions test check engine light came on. Any ideas what may have caused this?

Stop by any good parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc) and have them do a FREE OBII scan. It will read all your fault codes and more than likely light came on because of emission test. But have them read the faults and reset your light.

1994 honda accord failed its emisions test.

i would say change the O2 sensors and a new cat ,these readings are well over the top ,could have a exhaust blow on exhaust as well which will throw out the O2 readings

no this is to let you know that there is a problem in the emissions control system,eithr a O2 sensor,evap system or some leak,best thing to do is have it scan for the emision system.

Wont complete scan to pass emission test

When you rest your codes there is a series of tests your ECU has to go through before you can pass emissions. this is done some people can reset the code and go before its sets the code again. on the 96 you can have 2 tests not complete for it to pass. basicly you have to drive the car a couple days for the tests to pass.

check the readiness tests wait until only 2 have not passed. then you should be good.so drive and check.

upstream o2 sensor also have throttle body cleaned p.s. put in a bottle or two of drygas it will help fool or pass the emmision test
