2011 GMC Canyon repeatedly won't start and battery has been replaced

Been having problems with truck not starting since I bought it 10 months ago. Dealer replaced the battery less than a month ago and again will not start.

SOURCE: Where is GMC Canyon starter located?

the starter is located on the drivers side and is not easy to get out can barely see it from under neath there is fuel lines wire harness and sensor in the way thats on the 2.8l 4 cylinder changed mine when i had the engine out.

Number of Trips to Set Code: 1

OBD II Monitor Type: CCM Details
Indicators: MIL Details

Trouble Code Conditions:

  • The ignition is ON.
  • The ignition voltage is greater than 8 volts.
  • The system is not in the Battery Save mode.
  • The engine is running.
  • DTC P0068 is not set.

Possible Causes:

  • Use the J 35616 Connector Test Adapter Kit for any test that requires probing the PCM harness connector or a component harness connector.
  • Poor connections at the PCM or at the component--Inspect the harness connectors for a poor terminal to wire connection. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems for the proper procedure.
  • For intermittents, refer to Intermittent Conditions .

Battery Light still on

The new alternator is probably ok.
I would say you burned a fuseable link in the wiring harness.
The alternator has a fuse wire between it and the battery to protect it from overload.
Have someone check the wires coming out of the back of the alternator. The big wire should have battery voltage, the small wires energize the alternator when you start the engine.

My 2004 (5 cyl) GMC Canyon Truck starts fine, then runs for awhile and quits. Sometimes has to be jumped before restarting. I had the alternator and battery tested and was told it shows reason code...

I'm wondering if you're losing computer power at the battery.
I have a GMC (older model) that has a "side mount screws" on the battery instead of posts.
Not sure of your battery configuration...but if all those wires connected to the (+) terminal at the battery get dirty or corroded in any way...you'll get the problems you are getting.

I'd clean battery terminals real well to see if this helps...
(I converted my GMC to accept batteries with top posts...like I said, not sure of what you have.)

I have a 2005 GMC Canyon that the battery was changed about a month in a half ago. Now, If I don't start the truck for a couple of days I have to get a jump start. What is my problem? I think the battery...

Something must be staying on or somehow draining the battery with the car off. Check to make sure lights aren't staying on, check the map lights, dome light, visor lights etc. Did you recently install any aftermarket electronic parts?

they have so many electrical component there nothing wrong with it manly all car today that dont run daily do that park a mercedes for 2 weeks the same will hapen bmw ect charge our battery and drive it thanks for using fixya pierre
