Keeps dying on me

I have a 1994 Volvo 940 non turbo, that keeps dying on me. ONLY when I am driving, it will die when you are accelerating or just coasting. I have replaced the fuel filter, but it keeps doing it. It does it a lot when I drive it and only once or twice when my husband drives it. the RPM gage goes down to zero if you throw it in neutral real quick you can save it, but if you dont it dies. PLEASE any suggestions!

My air bareley blows when i accelerate.i have a 1994 volvo 940 turbo.

i have heard somewhere that this is caused by a faulty vacuum check valve which is black and white plastic and is located near centre above the rear of the engine up against the firewall. vacuum drops when you accelerate so there is not enough vacuum to keep various vacuum operated heating/cooling system valves in their selected position . the check valve keeps sufficient vacuum in a reservoir tank when vacuum at the engine manifold drops.

Sounds like it could be the mass air flow sensor.

Volvo 940 GL 1995 Soft Turbo

First check for holes or disconnected air inlet hoses, that will give the sensor/meter a problem so it cannot send the correct signal.

1992 volvo 940 turbo died while driving and will not start

two things to check,,, there is a crank sensor at the back of the engineby the bulkhead,,at the top of the engine where the gearbox joins ,,,the sensors are known to be faulty if sometimes ,,, check the cable to the sensor,,if it is damaged replace the sensor,,,the other common problem is the fuel pump relay,,, behind the fusebox in the dash
