Hi there, i had a mobile mechanic look at my 1992 400 sel mercedes V8 and he could not pinpoint what was wrong with it. His description was he removed flooded spark plugs, attempt to flood, perform compression test, reinstalled and crank, found backfiring through intake, remove spark plugs and recheck, found cylinders 1,2 and 5 appear to be causing backfire, drilled hole in exhaust to rule out blocked exhaust... I've had problems with it now for about 6 mths, hard to start sometimes with a backfire. I then pour fuel up into fuel tank to clear up gunk and let it sit for about 30mins then she starts again. prior to the car not starting i had it sitting out the front lawn for 3 weeks whilst on holiday, came back and it wouldnt start. Can u please help me...Cheers
Hello, What you could have is and ignition problem. I have had to replace many distributor caps (2) and rotor buttons (2) on this model to solve this same problem.
I hope this helps.
