P1493 Battery Temp. Sensor, Low Voltage

The battery temp sensor is built in to the PCM (ECU). The input from this sensor is used to adjust the alternator charging rate based upon the ambient tempature around the battery. The P1493 code is set when the sensor voltage is less than 0.3 V for 3 seconds. The only way to fix this code is to replace the PCM since the sensor is part of it internally.

What's wrong with my truck

Your best bet is to take it to ur local auto parts store to read the code for free. After they read the code, you can post it and go from there. Without a code, u'll be throwing money at it and not fix the problem

I have a 2002 chevy tahoe 4X4 with a 5.3L that has set a P1258 code engine over temp, it has also set a P0117 ect low input code, and a P1637 L terminal circuit, P1638 F terminal circuit codes.

If these codes are being only set during start I would expect a failure of the battery. If the voltage goes much below 9 VDC the computers (EMS) can become erratic and codes and limp home modes are a common result of defective and discharged batteries!

Careful having the battery tested. Any arcing etc at the battery can be the kiss of death for the engine computer. Better to remove terminal to check. Or test the crank voltage with multi-meter.

Check engine and battery lights are on after i changed both(battery and alternater) ...the car would run but the battery will be drained what's wrong wit my 96 eclipse

If you used a new or rebuild alternator, I'd suspect that the harness from the alternator to the battery is open circuit. It happens with age and corrosion. Measure the alternator terminal voltage, engine running. Should be about 13.7v. Same voltage should appear on the battery + terminal. If not, make up a heavy duty temp cable and run it from the alt to the battery.

P1493 Battery Temp. Sensor, Low Voltage,Solution: have the Battery and the Alternator tested, Auto Zone and Kragen as well as others do this for free. I suspect your Alternator is the problem.
