Had the same problem. Dealer changed the tumbler in the key lock. Dealer has to do it because of your key. They have to order the part to. Once you open your door with locksmith dont lock it, leave it open an be careful. Cant remember the exact amount paid, 450-500 for this job at the dealer, lock works pretty good, at times doesnt unlock the other doors, but its under 2 year warranty.

If the vehicle is in Deadlock mode then a slim jim will not work. A good locksmith should get it open with no problems.

SOURCE: 2001 BMW 325i - Key no longer unlocking doors.

if you have a bmw 325i 2001 model try this solution:
if you have one key , go on to the next step. if you have more than one key, like two or more than follow this procedure.

step one: unlock the doors with your key and get in and close the doors but do not lock them
step two: put your key into the ignition and turn it but not to start the engine, do this less than 5 seconds

step three: take the key out of the ignition and put it near the shifter. press and hold the unlock button while pressing the lock button 3 times. you have 30 seconds to do this. the doors should lock and unlock automatically signalling that it the key has been reprogrammed. if you have more than one key follow those steps for each one except for step one. remmember you have only 30 seconds for each key. that should help you.

SOURCE: 2003 bmw 325i keys does not unlock and the door

insert the key into the drivers side or passender side front door, twist the key and pull open on the handle at the same time and the door will open. It might take a few times to get it, but this does work, source BMW AG Munich.

I have a 1996 BMW 318TI and when I turn ignition, the engine dosen't turn, but when i put a remote starter the engine turns, but no spark fire from spark. I need a solution to fix this quick!

Does the key have a alarm on it if it does youll need to replace the battery in the key. When the key is put in the transponder sends a signal to give spark and it does.then it starts. If you say the key doesnt have a alarm try this when the key is turn to the ACC position do you hear the pump. now if you crank it with the remote does the pump turn on? If yes you can do this go to the crank sensor pull on the harness(crank sensor has a tendency to get loose) does the crank move if it does youll need to tighten it up with the proper gap. if it doest solve it do this. close the door with the battery at a proper charge put the key in the door unlock it get in put the key in ignition now does it crank. If no you have a alarm problem.

My BMW x3 2005 back door will not close. The latch doesnt seem to catch. We tried locking and unlocking the doors you can hear the mechanism working but latch is catching. Lock/latch seems to just spin...

Hold down the "open" button on your remote and simultaneosly pull the inside handle of that door open. I just had the issue with my driver's door and as my son tried to "help" (he's 9), one of the passenger doors also got stuck! After not finding a non-tech response, played around some until the the dran latch obliged on the front door. Repeated on passenger door and whew! :-)

which door wont open and did you try unlocking it with key to see if the latch rod hasnt fell in the door panel if after trying to open normal and still doesnt work you have no choice as to take inside panel off and install the door latch rod if you cant do this without door open get a towing company to unlock the latch with a jimmys kit then you can do what you have to to repair it

2006 bmw 325i remote only unlocks driverside door. will not unlock all doors when you lock it from the inside. have to use key in remote to open door. also central button to unlock doors is inop

fuse 56 and 57 control central locking, the issue is caused by surges typically in the front door lock actuators, normally at a dealer they would replace fuse 56 and 57 with a 20a mini fuse and if still occuring repl the door lock(s) that dont work or typically both front, first replace fuse 56 and 57 with 20a fuses as were too small from factory and than operate ten to 15 times, if it doesnt work at first dont panic, let the car go to sleep which takes about 16 min and than try again this problem has nothing to do with the key fob or the lock unlock button inside, also the fuses are located behind the glove box just rere the access panel and they are found at lower left section

Keyless remote

Disconnect the battery from your car (negative cable only) overnight. Make sure you have your radio reset code before doing so.

Then reconnect after 10 hours, and make sure you have remote handy as alarm may go off. Then if that doesnt fix it, go to driver door, then insert master key, pull up on handle first all the way and hold it. Then turn the key slowly all the way so the doors unlock and continue turning the key. This will reset the central locking system as yours may have gotton stuck. then remove key let go of handle, open door and try to lock and unlock doors from switch inside car.

Then try remote. It should work, this is what the dealer will do and charge you about $350...if it doesnt work order a new remote b/c yours may have become damaged by liquid or dropping?

Have a great day,

Thanks,

Boot will not unlock with the remote button from key fob

Yes, this is what makes the Germans so cool!

Step one, replace battery in key foob. If that doesnt work proceed to next step.

Your BMW has a central locking system overide solution.

insert your main key into the driver door. before turning the key lift the door handle as if your opening the door, then turn the key all the way clockwise....it should go further than it ever has....it should make all the door latches POP! If this doesnt work, Try it while turning the key counterclockwise.

If this doesnt work, make sure you have your radio code and take off the negative battery cable overnight on your car. Then attach it after 12 hours and repeat above steps.

This should work, this is what they will do at the dealer and charge you about $700 :-)
