My bet would be a faulty airbag control module but you really need to have a scan tool to find out exactly what the problem is.Take it to your local auto parts store(advance auto, autozone ect.) and they might be able to retreive the information from the computer.

I had this on our Town and Country, it was the "Clockspring" in the steering wheel. Chrysler replaced it and then later had a "RECALL" and I got all of my money back.

I have an 03 Alero that the Airbag light and the security light is coming on and staying on after the car has been started and is continually running. When I turn the ignition switch to start the car and...

IF the airbag light is on, that means the system didn't pass the internal test and has stored a trouble code. Get the trouble code read and then you'll know where to start the diagnosis. There is NO "relearn" for an airbag system if there's a fault. The light will just come back on.

Airbag light

You can unhook your battery for 15min. which should reset your airbag light. If it keeps coming on it is very possible it is the airbag clock spring which is located in the steering column causing the airbag light to come on. These are known to go out and cause the light to come on. The steering wheel has to be removed with a steering wheel puller to replace this part. This repair should be performed by a qualified mechanic. I had the same problem with my 05 Grand Caravan and the clock spring fixed the problem.

My 2002 bravada airbag light comes on, stays on and goes off then comes on again

Not without having the body computer scanned for trouble codes.

2006 Chev Trailblazer. Seems to be running fine then loses power, the airbag light comes on, then it picks back up and seems to run fine again.

1st things 1st, clean that throttle body. Clean with throttle body cleaner with the battery disconnected. Must be shiny like new. When finished drive with all the accesories OFF for about 5-7 miles, this way your computer will relearn the newly cleaned throttle body correctly.

As far as the airbag light, could be many things. You didn't mention this....does the airbag light go off when the power is restored? The airbag is nothing to mess with, if it goes on again, you can take it to a shop that can communicate with the airbag control module. Will narrow down exactly where the fault is.

2003 nissan altima airbag blinking. Engine is running rough. Plus check engine soon light is illiminated.

On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident. Most systems can only be diagnosed using a scanner designed for the airbag system, however some use flash codes to indicate the problem. The scanners at Auto Zone or the ones that sell for @ $50 will not access the airbag system, only the engine systems (check engine light).
This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting some systems without a scanner. Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate that (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/

Hi, how much would it cost to reset airbag light on my vw lupo

Sorry but that can only be answered by a repair garage. The answer depends upon:-

  • the country you're in;
  • whether you use an independent garage or a franchised outlet; and
  • the exact reason that the light has come on
The last point is really important: you may just have a loose wiring connector or the light could be telling you that an airbag has actually failed and needs replacing. It's important to note that this is not really a DIY job: if you don't understand what you're doing there's a risk of airbag detonation which could harm you and cause a lot of interior damage.

As your car is now 10 years old, it's likely that the light has just come on to tell you that the airbags have reached the end of their certified lifespan and need servicing. In practice what usually happens is that a VW garage or an airbag specialist will run diagnostics on the system and then re-certify the system for around another 5 years, resetting the airbag light to match. They can do this based on ongoing research by the airbag manufacturer using samples of airbags manufactured at the same time as yours. Many car insurers will refuse to pay out if the airbag light is ignored or if it has been reset by unqualified personnel.

The cost of the diagnostics and recertification is usually fairly low as it normally doesn't take long if all proves to be fine, but you can usually get it done for free if you get the same garage to do a major service or similar major work done at the same time, such as a cambelt replacement which will definitely be overdue if not already carried out.

Airbag light

Take it into a Hyundai Dealership and have the SRSCM scanned for the specific trouble codes. They will tell you EXACTLY where the problem is and what's needed to fix it. NOW, having written that, if you want to try 'CLEARING' the airbag light to see if it comes back 'ON', disconnect the battery cables (+) and (-) from the battery and touch them together for 10 seconds (this is with the ignition key in the 'RUN' position). Reconnect the cables to the battery to see if the Airbag light comes back on or stays on. If it does, then have it diagnosed by a qualified technician.

Airbag light keeps coming on then off and on all the time

Hello, The airbag light comes on whenever there is any problem with the safety restraint systems.
This means that while the light is on the AirBag WILL NOT deploy. It could be several things....Electrical short in the Steering wheel (supplies power to Airbag), Seat belt locks (if the computer thinks the seatbelt is not in use it won't deploy the airbag), these are the most likely problems, But it could be bad or loose wiring under the dash (aftermarket Stereo?), or Impact sensors, or the Body control module. Any other lights? When does it come on / go off? Random or predictible pattern? Goods news is the car does not need an airbag to drive ... Good luck , hope that helped..
