SOURCE: My truck will ocasionally run like its running out

Try pulling the vacuum line off the EGR valve when the engine is warm and idling rough. If the EGR is bad the engine will idle normal once you remove the vacuum line. It will be located on the intake manifold.

How to rewire burnt wiring 85 dodge ram 318 engine

Wow, sorry about that problem.

First, you must resolve the issue that caused the fire. Then, while it IS possible to replace all of the wires, it is TONS easier to get a replacement harness and put that in.

    FIRING ORDERS

    See Figures 1 and 2
To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement.
If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes to reflect how your engine is wired.

81 jeep cj7 wont start after rewiring

    check this,
remove a convenient spark plug, stick it on it's wire and place where you can see it, stick you finger over the spark plug hole and have a friend crank the engine, note whether the air blast and spark are the same instant if not the distributor's out of time
