Contacts in fuse box under hood

Fuse for alternator seems to not be making contact 100% of the time, the battery light and meter drops and system quits charging. I have had alternator and battery changed (new) and when you "adjust fuse" the system returns to normal. can the contacts be changed if thats is the problem?

SOURCE: turn signal does not work

HI. Click here to view a troubleshooting page, that will help isolate the issue. The likely culprit will be the Flasher.

The flasher unit can be found under the dash panel attached to a bracket on the right side steering column opening reinforcement. On some models, the flasher plugs into the fuse panel.

The flasher can be removed by pressing the plastic retaining clip and pulling straight rearward. Align the new flasher housing with bracket and push forward until it snaps into the bracket

Click Here to view the fuse box layout picture.

The mounting of the fuse panel is either on the left side of the passenger compartment, under the dash, on the side kick panel or on the firewall to the left of the steering column. Certain models will have the fuse panel exposed while other models will have it covered with a removable trim cover.

My 2006 avalanche's battery goes dead after about 2 days. I've replaced the battery & alternator & can't find out why. ?????

this is a time consuming repair. If you have a DC amp meter or use a 12 VDC test light disconnect neg cable on battery insert meter in series and observe either the light being lit even if dim or he current number. Now start under dash and remove fused 1 at a time and check meter/light/ If current is still flowing replace fuse and repeat until current dips off or light goes out . this will tell you what circuit to check. If no change start under hood fuses and relay box and repeat.

2003 f150 4x4 dont work. No light. Nothing is happening

Hi.

Make sure that the battery cables are making contact. Use a volt meter and check if there is power across the battery terminals. Check the ground connection from battery to the engine block. Check that there is power to the main distribution box, located under the hood. In the distribution box check the PCM relays. After that check the fuse box inside the vehicle.

Why is the brake light and the battery light on the dash

When this happens, there is no charging system voltage (from the alternator). Several possible causes

1. Alternator's regulator has stopped working
2. Alternator fuse (100 to 120 amp) is blown (at battery post or inside Fuse/Relay box under the hood)
3. Wiring between alternator & battery &/or fuse/relay box.

Although my husband replaced the alternator today, it still doesn't seem to be charging and only registers about 11 on the gauge.

Check all bigger fuses under hood in power distribution box, may have blown one for alternator or charge circuit when changing.

Battery keeps dieng changed altinator batterydies someone told me something wrong with some electrical fuse

Under the hood you will find a box marked power distribution center near the battery. Inside you will find several "master" fuses that power all your sub-systems. One is for the alternator. Fuses can be tested without removal using a test light or volt meter by probing the open spaces above the contact spades (I use a volt meter because it not only tells you that voltage is there, but how much) . if fuses check out as good and you have the alternator properly connected, some Jeep systems use a remote regulator, but (don't have any idea why) it is part of the computer and cannot be replaced alone.

Battery went dead and after jumping the radio doesn't work

chrysler has a separate large fuse in the fuse box under the hood in the fuse box, there should be 5 or more large fuses (yellow, green or blue in color) If you look under the fuse box cover you will see which fuse is for the alternator. Sometimes these fuses will burn out while jumping a car (possible incorrect battery contact with jumpers, fuse protects vehicle electrical system) also a shorted battery will not produce power for vehicle , auto parts store will check battery for free,

1992 Ford Festiva GL with automatic trans.--- ignition control module contact

Hi!
Try to remove fusible links from the connection, clean with aerosol electronic contact cleaner(both sides of the connection) close the female side of the connecting terminal and reconnect.
Alternatively just spray connections with above mentioned cleaner, or replace links with alternative from another vehicle that uses heavy duty fuses with same amperage rating.
Visit your local car breaker for a variety vehicles to source a suitable fuse assembly or enquire at your local (non agent) spares outlet.

Phillip
