Another suggestion to find out what can be the right sensor or parts to buy specially a do it self mechanic.Bring your car to the Auto Parts stores Like AUTO-ZONE , PEPBoys & Other auto parts that offer A FREE Diagnostic CODE Analyzer right on the parking lot. From there they could be able to pinpoint w/c exact parts to replace. Sometimes it don't work when when replacing Oxygen sensor unless it was fully indicated on the code.

Replace the oxygen sensors. The check engine light on a 98 maxima lets you know that there is a problem with the emission system.

I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima GLE, I Failed the Emission Inspection (DTC) Diagnostic Trouble Codes of "P1492","P1105" What these Codes exactly? mean

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plugs or wires
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector(s)
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective compute
  • P1105MAP/BARO Pressure Switch Solenoid Valve
  • Check and clean the MAP sensor, or replace.
  • P1492EVAP Canister Purge Control/Solenoid Valve (Circuit)
  • Replacing the purge solenoid will clear code P1492 This should also clear code P0300 as well.

I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima GLE, engine was replaced with a 1998 SE engine. Since then, I have been having problems starting. I get a boost and once I move the car and park it, it won't start again....

there is a problem with your iginition timing. it is most probably overly advanced. have an experienced mechanic check your ignition timing. the mechanic should check the distributor, camshaft, and crankshaft timings.

Service engine lights on 1998 maxima gle

Your light is on because the computer has detected a problem with your vehicle. Since there are many things that can cause it to go off, you need to have it scanned at Autozone or Advanced. They do this for free and they will tell you why your light came on.

My 2002 Maxima GLE wont go in Reverse. When I place in Reverse the engine revs but the car does not move. The car has lost power while in Drive and the RPM's will not exceed 3,000 RPM. Does this mean I...

If your`check engine light is on, have the codes read to find out what is causing your transmission problems, but yours seems to be a common problem, the usual symptoms of a failed speed sensor in the 00-03 maxima. Have it checked out.

What kind of oil I should use for a 98 nissan maxima gle

depending on how many miles you have on it.

usually 10W30 for cars around that year. (if you fill it with thinner oil the engine might make clicking sounds, and thicker oil might clog up the engine)

Every 30,000 miles you need an air filter, every 60,000 a fuel filter, every 100,000 spark plugs. That's it.
