It has a esp problem wear it still runs good and moves but has now backing up power in revers and wont shift out of first gear.
SOURCE: Auto transmission not smooth 1st to 2nd
Admitting a lack of familiarity with your car, this is often caused by an improper adjustment of the transition point from one gear (or clutch) to another.
1st is still not disengaged when 2nd is engaging but this is normally an adjustable point.
I've also seen this caused by the use (or adding) of the wrong fluid; the beasts are fussy about that sometimes.
SOURCE: gear shift difficulty moving/gear shift stuck in 1st gear
sounds like your shift cable was freezing up and finally snapped. check the trans shifter side and see if you can move it if so then this is problem. your car runs a cable not rods. if you pop the center console out you will get a better view there is one or two screws at back of console in cupholders and it should come out

The last time this happened to me, the clutch cable had worn through the out cable housing and had to be replaced.
SOURCE: transmishion wont go int park
there is a plastic rod under the t handle shifter
with five little balls, if you pull the handle up, you should see the white plastic rod pull it out and if there are only 4 balls on the rod then it is broken, you can use a piece of wood (like a chopstick) that will fit, cut to length and you should now be able to **** in to park and 1st

It sound like the gear linkage isn,t set up right, you wouldn,t always be able to engage a gear unless you rocked the car.
