Code P0700 2006.5 kia optima 2.4L, transmission gets stuck in 3rd gear. Calling for code P0700. I can't get a mechanic to tell me anything but replacing the transmission and I think it could be just a sensor from other forums I've read. This started a couple years ago, I drove it out since I didn't have funds to replace the transmission back then. So March 2011 my engine blew, after replacing the engine, the transmission problem just went away. Til October 2011. So I don't understand why it stopped and came back again. I had a transmission shop replace the solenoid it was calling for 2 years ago and that didn't do anything.

P0700 = TCU request for 'MIL' on (IE transmission control unit has detected a fault and wants you to know about it.)

Reasons:

A communication line exists between the Engine Control Module(ECM) and the Trans-axle Control Module (TCM). The sole purpose of this communication line is for the TCM to notify the ECM to activate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) when a serious trans-axle failure has occurred.

DTC Description
If the signal "MIL ON" is requested from TCU or it is no signal from TCU, the ECM judged as a fault and DTC is set.

Kia's first suggestion is to check for damaged wiring or connectors.

Try this: Disconnect your battery for about 5 minutes to clear the fault. Then take it for a spin and see how it shifts... good luck.

What is the sterio unlock code for kia optima 2005?

Most stock codes are zeros. A dealer may be able to give you this information without charging you anything. Try calling them if the code does not work.

My 2008 kia optima gear 2 incorrect ratio

You likely have a Check Engine light throwing a P0732 fault. This can be attributed by 1 or more of the following:

-Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Shift solenoids
- Transmission mechanical problems
- Transmission hydraulic control circuit

Start with the transmission fluid. If it's full, check for signs of wear. It should be purple. If it's brown and/or is giving off a burning smell, it needs to be changed. If the fluid is full and in good condition, the problem is with the transmission itself. It could be an adjustment, a bad module, or a sign that the transmission is on it's way out. Best of luck with your problem and thank you for using Fixya.

2002 Kia Optima runs great, transmission has started acting irradcally. it will shift and pull in gear for a short time after starting, but after a few minutes it fails to move the car. I've changed...

Keep driving it like that & it won't work at all

When ever you even think you have a transmission
issue, you immediately stop using the vehicle or you
end up rebuilding the trans, your call, your money & lots of it

Ask yourself ---Why would changing the fluid do anything?

Old oil out / New oil in ?

You change trans fluid because it breaks down from the heat
That is it's job,to remove heat or your trans fails

Trans & Power Steering get changed every 3 years & not
over 30,000 miles ever on ALL Vehicles

2001 Kia Optima acceleration drop out problem

I would have them check the Sensor that is located on top of the transmission, I had a similar problem back when I bought mine. And I was told that the sensor was Bad, and there was a recall on it and it is a common problem. Because of where the Sensor is located it is a pain to get to, they have to drop the transmission. So for me anyways instead of just dropping the transmission to swap out the sensor, the Kia dealership that we bought the car from Replaced the whole Transmission/Sensor with a brand new Tranny. I have over 160,000 miles on the Car now and I have had no problems since.
