There are 2 screws that hold the TPS on to the side of the throttle body. Before you take the old TPS off, note where the TPS is located regarding the adjustment slots. Remove the 2 screws, and remove the old TPS, install the new one, and try to achieve the SAME adjustment. If you get the adjustment wrong, the engine will idle up & down. If it does, move the new TPS slightly until the idle smooths out.

I have a problem with my toyota corolla ae110. when i step on the accelerator it delays to pickup the speed.its is an auomatic transmission

Hi.

If the problem is transmission because the gears do not engage at the right time, then check the TPS. The TPS is the throttle position sensor. TPS is located on the throttle body, and detects the way you push the accelerator pedal. Along with speed sensor, the signal from TPS is used by the TCM (transmission control module) to decide when to shift gears. If the TPS is defective, the transmission will shift at the wrong time.
The TPS can be tested reading Volts (or Ohms) at TPS contacts while someone else is slowly pressing the pedal. If there gaps or irregularities in the reading, then the TPS is faulty.

If transmission is OK ensure that the problem is not the engine. An incorrect mixture or injection problems may result in slower performance.

Regards.

Car dies out when I accelerate. Idles ok. Its getting gas but when I take off it stalls

There are 3 likely causes for your problem. It could be any 1 or a combination of the 3.
  1. Bad MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor
  2. Clogged or bad fuel injector
  3. Bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) This controls idle speed when the engine is cold, warm, or with the AC on.
Most often it's #3. Most large auto parts stores will perform a complimentary diagnostic test on your car. This will give you error codes stored in the car's computer and allow you to hone in on the problem.

91 cherokee shifts fine at fist but after a minute or so it wont shift out of first gear. changed the output speed sensor but no change

Sounds like a bad out speed sensor. Are you sure you replaced the correct sensor? This trans(AW340)Has an output speed sensor and a vehicle speed sensor. The output speed sensor is located on the side of tail housing just next to where it bolts to transmission case. The vehicle speed sensor will be about midway of the tail housing or on the transfer case tail housing on the 4x4 models. It may be a good idea to have a tranny shop you trust run a diagnostic and see if you are getting output sensor signal to TCM( transmission control module behind glove box)and take a look at TPS (throttle position sensor)signal when it is hot to make sure you replace the correct part.I have seen bad TPS sensors on these jeep not affect engine drivability because the sensor is really two(one for trans and one for engine)thus the two plugs on the TPS sensor for the automatic Cherokee.Good Luck and let me know if I can help.

When driving it will go out of overdrive and then go back in,

providing its not actually a transmission issue,it sounds like it could be the (tps)throttle position sensor, can mimic a trans problem.it can be recalobrated with a multimeter, but its easier to by a new 1.

1998 Dodge Ram 4X4 Quad 5.9L Auto. When accelerating slowly, shift fine until up to a cruizing speed, then keeps shifting up & down like into/out of a passing gear. Going up hill under a slight load...

Mr. dodge ram, with the 46re trans the pcm needs a signal from the tps sensor to monitor throtlle opening, accel and decel, what has happened the tps has a worn out spot in cruise area, hence the down shift, uphill is fine because your past the worn out spot, replace your tps sensor, its mount on left side of throtlle body , 2 screws, 1 connecter, and its out, when done turn key on, eng off, step on gas pedal 6 times slowly, then turn off key, this will help set min tps setting, GOOD LUCK RDJRP

'95 Corolla Engine Question

An engine from another Corolla up to 1997 will fit. There are 2 engines though. 4A-fe (1.6L) or a 7A-fe (1.8L) They look similar but run different Engine managment computers. The 4A-fe uses a 3spd auto trans and the 7A-fe uses a 4spd auto trans. Also some of the wiring may be different.
Hope this helps.

95 Corolla automatic trans. problem

check the fluid level in the trans, if OK, then check for the vacuum lines to the servos on the sides of trans. make sure that no elect connectors have come loose either.

1995 FORD Contour GL V6 AUTO ; Trans.> speed sensor prob.

The speed sensor signal goes through the speedo cluster and then to the PCM, this is the main computer that controls trans and engine functions, in order to see if the PCM is getting the speed sensor signal you need to install what we call a break out box to monitor the signal and see where it is being lost, it could be the connector ar the transmission, pull it off and make sure the wires are not broken inside the insulation near the connector plastic shell, There is no way to fix this without these checks.
