Turn over the key, no reaction at all. No clicking, no sounds. Battery is fine. Tow to garage, try to start and it fires right up. A couple weeks later, won't start. Same thing. No reaction at all to turning the key. No sounds at all. Tow to garage. Starts right up. Seems like the tow bounces something loose or causes something loose to reconnect? Mechanic cannot diagnose until it actually comes in unable to start.
One of two things. Starter (or starter solenoid) or Neutral Safety Switch. Check the starter by disconnecting the EFI relay, then jump a wire from the positive term of battery to lug on starter solenoid does it crank okay? If not, then check the NSS, located under the airbox, can be adjusted using the offset bolt, just a tiny bit at a time, still no start? replace the NSS and adjust as necessary.

Top left and right corners of the front grill pull away to reveal the fixing holes. Make sure you WD40 the threads as Mazda coat the threads with paint. insert towing eyes and turn slowly unscrew and screw a bit at a time as you have a good chance of cross threading if you don't. Keep lubricating as you go. Make sure you take the plastic inserts off completely before towing as you will loose them when towing. replace when completed towing. Good luck and hope what ever the reason for towing it is not serious.
