My vehicle is running but need a new auto insurance because previous one expired due to maxed out credit card. but the mechanic told me it cannot pass inspection because of the rods and shafts and license plate lights and one of the head lights, brake panel and they asked me for more than 1000 just for the labor. but I don't think those will be needed for a used car to get on the road. I am in Calgary. Anybody know who can pass my vehicle for auto insurance inspection?

An insurance inspection- do you mean a CARCO inspection? this would only need to happen if you were insuring your car for theft and collision coverage, the carco is in place to inspect for exsisting damage and any customizations you may have- if you only want liability insurance you do not need the carco inspectoin to be get your car insured, because yoiu are not insuraing YOUR car for damage, but any other property you do not own that you may be resposible for damaging, in addition of course to bodily injury to others that you may be responsible for- other then yourself or your household members. Did I understand your question correctly? hope this helps

I want to just clarify- are asking about a state saftey inspection, or a vehicle inspection that your insurance company is asking you to have done? if its the insurance cfo- I stand by my 1st answer to you.If its the state inspection you are speaking of-(which I doubt) having a car pass inspection via the state- is not required to obtain car insurance- now you need car insurance to get thru and pass the state inspection, but you can insure any car you want, wether it runs or not- as long as it is registered, and you have insurable interest- (meaning you are the owner)- doesnt matter is the floors are rusted out- you can insure it-

First, each insurance company chooses how it manages the inspection thing. Some vehicle insurance companies use it and others can overlook it. so from that I assumed it depends on who you go through with insurance. Call your insurance company and they can probably, fax or email you a copy form to see.

How do I transfer an existing ez pass unit to another vehicle? I am getting a new car with new registration plates.

the ez pass is just a credit card for instant payment for tolls or tickets so putting in in the next vehicle will not be a problem
contact the company who issued the pass and ask if there is any procedure for swapping vehicles

Check your Car insurance or any coverage you may have through Credit Cards or Autoclubs. Sometimes the insurance package includes stuff you never thought you signed for.

When a car is new, the Company issues a printed Keyless entry Code and prints it on a Plastic Card. This means that the Manufacturer has a record of the Keyless Code for each Vehicle as long as the original Code has not been changed.

Call Ford Owner Relations and write down the Vin# if you do not have an Insurance form with the number on it. All car insurances use the Vin# to ID your vehicle. The Vin Plate should be at the base of the Windshield on the Drivers side.

Once you supply some form of ID to satisfy the Maker, they should be able to give you the Code.

Tow truck drivers and Police often have Slim-Jims to open car doors. Either may be cheaper than a Locksmith.

We just had tranmission work completed on a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse. After work was completed it broke down because mechanic forgot to put some bolts in and a lot of transmission fluid had leaked out. Car...

I personally would be greatly suspicious of that mechanic.Losing " a lot of transmission fluid" is a serious thing and may have actually caused permanent damage to your transmission. As the mechanic has compromised their integrity, I would immediately take the vehicle to a different mechanic - preferably one who does not know the first and ask for a diagnostic on the code and an inspection of the previous person's work, with a written report of their findings. Di not tell the new mechanic of the happenings with the first - you want an unbiased opinion and not one formed to protect the incompetent or inept. If he asks about previous work done to the car, don't lie but do limit what you say ( i.e. say another shop, not Tom's Auto Repair in Cucamonga). It is possible these 2 instances are unrelated and your shop had an OOPS moment, but you do need to insure they didn't waste your transmission, costing you a small fortune and loss of time for the trans replacement. Protecting yourself is the primary goal here. Hope this helps!!

2004 suzuki verona check engine light on. Mechanic said nothing was wrong. car stopped accelorating on highway and died. now was told cataletic converter was clogged and blew engine. can this happen. was...

your engine is fine. find a new mechanic.

if the exhaust clogs it just dies. your cat ( converter) probably clogged due to a very rich condition, which was detected by the computer, hence the light. my bet is a clogged fuel injector or a sensor (either oxygen or air flow) failed. this made it run rich and the cat probably melted.

get a new cat installed, have them run the codes.

Hi, I have a '03 Daewoo Matiz M150, the tyres fitted to the vehicle are 165/70 R13, now my mechanic has told me that this vehicle is not road worth with this size tyre on it, they are out of the...

well rick your mechanic is talking out of his proverbial ,This vehicle comes fitted from new with this size tyre ,its on the certificate of homoglonation .Any attempt to fit larger wheels will quickly wear out the steering joints because it alters the caster /camber/king pin inclination .Also under new europeon legislation you are not allowed to interfere with basics of the vehicle ,that is alter anything that is on the certificate of homoglonation This will render you open to prosecution if stopped by an overzealous essex traffic cop and your vehicle will not pass the MOT ,how do i know a fellow brit??look how you spell tyre??
