If the engine has overheated, chances are pretty good that you now have a warped or cracked cylinder head and a blown head gasket. Those engines are very unforgiving when it comes to being overheated.

not frequently, maybe once a month. if the coolant is going down "drasticly",and no visible signs of a leak, then you have a bad head gasket..

Find the big hose that comes out of the top of the radiator and follow it to the engine and that is where the thermostat is located. My advice is to be sure to get a factory thermostat and rubber gasket as it makes installation much easier. I have done it both ways and the factory one is easier to install.

SOURCE: new thermostat,waterpump,coolant,block flushed rad

take the thermostat out and heat it up in a pan of water to see if it will open when it gets hot.
you should see it open when it gets hot.use a cooking thermometer to watch the temp. it should open between 180 and 225 deg.

How to purge heating system on a 2003 nissan sentry

This system has to be purged of all air. This has to be done at a shop that has this tool. It basically vacuums out all the atmosphere just like an HVAC vacuum pump. It then sucks in the coolant thus no air pockects.

Heating nissan sentra 1995

Have you checked to see if the thermostat is functioning correctly and is not jammed shut. That would cause overheating.

1995 sentra heat problem.i done the head and replaced the water pump and redaitor cap and just had the head skimmed when i go on a hill its heating

Did you change the thermostat. It might be stuck halfway open. When you start to go up a hill, the engine heats up more, the thermostat needs to open more, to let more coolant by to the radiator.

No heat ..help installed new heater switch, replaced water pump..replaced coolants, and thermostat......................what else could it be? Nissan 2003 GXE Sentra 1.8 L Engine/...

you could have an air pocket in the cooling system that has to be burped. With a cold engine, park uphill and leave the radiator cap loose. Fill radiator and coolant reservoir. Start engine with cap loose and run at 1500 rpm until temp gauge reads normal. Feel if top radiator return hose from engine to radiator is hot. If yes, coolant is flowing and thermostat is open. If cold, thermostat is not staying closed until engine is hot.

report results.

Heater blowing cold air

My 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8s with 55,000 mi. blows cold air from the heater. Coolant not circulating in engine. Lower hose stays cool to touch. Both heater hoses cold. Changed thermostat - didn't fix it. Coolant not leaking or dirty. None in oil - no oil in radiator. Changed worn water pump belt - pump spins freely with no noise or resistance. Cooling fans come on after warm-up. Temperature gauge stays in normal range then jumps to hot and back again. Coolant good to 10 below - didn't freeze here yet. No other problems or repairs to car. Afraid to drive and make worse. Help!

Heater works good then all at once starts blowing cold air

You will have to replace the thermostat...It sounds like the thermostat is not opening and closing all the way. When the car is running fast enough to heat up the water, great...heat...but at stops the thermostat is not closing all the way allowing the water to cool as it passes through the heater.
