The transfer case control module is located behind the left side of dash behind the headlight switch, you will need to remove the speedo trim around speedometer, then pull put the headlight switch. the module is just snaped into place. also keep in mind, the module has to programmed with software for it to work correclty. in other words, the replacement module will have to be programmed after installing

Have a friend, (or in-law) someone you're not too fond of, stand in front of the truck while you honk the horn and have them pinpoint it for you.

If they are the same cases, yes. Match the number on the tags. Numbers have to match. Like NP 245

2006 Chevy 2500hd. Fan speed control switch will not work at 5 setting. Will not work for a short period and then kick back on. would the entire module need to be replaced or is there a cheaper solution...

Can you say recall notice? Chevy knows about this problem and has extended the warranty through 2016 or 150,000 miles. Just had my 2006 Silverado fixed at dealership @ no cost to me. It takes the shop approximately 45 minutes to correct.

Im looking to find out what model transfer case is in my 2001 chevy silverado 2500hd with a 4l80e transmission. It is a 3 button automatic transfer case.

Here`s how you can find out.Go into your glove box and at the bottom you will see a white label about the size of a credit card.It will have a bunch of numbers and letters.Look for the N letter and then see if you have np,np1,np8,or np2.Np is a 149 1 speed automatic. The Np1 is a selectable. The Np8 is a 236/246 2 speed auto and the Np2 is the 261 2 speed manual. There is also tag on the back of the transfer case that will tell you what type it is.Hope this helps.Good luck.
