Front seal leak in my highlander

It just started 2 days ago and as soon as i noticed the leak I parked tmy truck and haven't moved it. The leak looks like it's coming from near the filter but not 100% sure. I started the truck and the oil started shooting out from underneath. I checked oil level and it was only 1/2 qt low. Since the leak progressed so quickly i'm thinking it's not the front seal but would like some outside advice..

SOURCE: 1994 camry oil leak

Hi Toyota Ed
The silver plate seems to be a blank as there are no oil pipes running into.
The leak seems to be weeping along a secondary sump if that makes sense.
If looking from the bottom you have a black sump that bolts onto a silver alloy cast that then seems to be bolted to the lower engine block this seems to have a flexi seal of sealant ( can feel it where it has seeped out) this is were i think the leak is comming from.
Especially when you stop the motor you can see it seeping out around here, but as you know oil sometimes can travel in weird ways and i will check again around the blank plate that you mentioned.
Would i be able to repair it if it is the main sump/ gasket and do you have to remove the motor?

SOURCE: brake fluid leaking alot and now noticed fluid from rear tires

if your car has rear drum then the wheel cylinders could be leaking and in need of replacement. If it has rear disc brakes then it could be leaking fluid where the brake hose goes into the caliper or the brake hose my be worn or have a hole in it. Or it could be a a brake line. You should have it checked because you don't want air getting into the braking system.

SOURCE: oil consumption, no smoke, no leaks

Yes a crappy PVC valve can cause some of your problems but not necessarily all of them, they are cheap, I always replace it to start. The air cleaner housing being full of oil is like how the oil is being consumed. In addition to a PVC valve, there may also be a blow-by hose running into the housing. check to see what other hoses go into the housing & which ones have oil coming from them. I'm not familiar with the "Motor Honey" you mentioned but I rarely add additives to my Engine oil, especially if they are thickeners. The only stuff I recommend is a Quaker state or similar "High Mileage Oil". These semi-synthetic oils have additives to swell old rubber & cork seals in older engines and can help reduce oil consumption & leakage. Again, it may not be a total solution, but it couldn't hurt to drain out all of the existing oil & replace with a high mileage type & also change the filter at the same time. Never mix it with other oils, despite the manufacturer telling you it may be safe to do so.

Check the transmission fluid level. Sounds like you either have a leak n or failed to properly top off the fluid level after the initial loss of fluid.

How do i take 2003 highlander out of park when the engine doesn't start?

Hi! If you turn on the ignition and depress the brake pedal, the shifter should move whether the engine is started or not. If it does not release, have someone check to see if the brake lights work. If the brake lights do not work, you will likely not be able to move the shifter. If they do not, check the STOP fuse and see if it is blown. If you have NO power anywhere (no dash lights, etc) you can remove the small cover near the shifter (usually about10mm square) and depress the white button underneath. The shifter should come out of park at that point.

That sounds like either a wheel bearing or a busted belt in the tire. Move that tire to the front. If the sound moves, it is the tire, if the sound doesn't move, it is the wheel bearing.

It sounds like classic valve seal failure to me. When parked and cooled off the bad seal (s) allow oil to leak past the seal and into the combustion chamber (s). After the engine is run it burnes off the oil until it parked again. This also happens to many engines that have been in storage allowing the seals to dry out.

94 town car leaking coolant

you have a leaking water pump... there is a "weep" hole at the bottom of it and when the inner seal goes bad it starts slowly leaking out of it as a warning sign to replace it. It will do that for a few days, or months even, until it starts leaking profusely.
