Radio code I change my battery in my 1997 discovery and i put in the wrong code three times and it has locked me out. How do i get to enter the right code?

Leave the radio on, until it displays the word "CODE".
then you can enter the code using numbers 1 to 4.

The time until "CODE" is displayed depends on the number of previous wrong entries. 1 minute for one wrong entry, 2 hours for 5 wrong entries.

Just put the radio on and leave it that way until it says "CODE"

Remove battery cable for 2 minutes.Then try again...Good Luck!!!!!

Radio is locked because someone entered the wrong code more than three times.

Radio must be left on for one hour before it will change to CODE. At which time you can enter your radio code .( Do not just leave ignition on...battery will be discharged inside the hour.)

You have three trys before it locks and says SAFE.

If it does not take the code you have you will need to call VW and ask them if they can obtain the code. However, VW demands that the owner must be present and have ownership papers for the can and a valid id.

If the listed code still is not taken by the radio, you need to pull the radio out ( Special tools required.) and record ALL the numbers you find on the radio chassis so VW dealer can pull up code for that radio.

Or...have an after market radio installed.

So if you were to pay a dealer for their time & have it
taken into the service bay, not a single tech could put
in a radio code
That is pure non sense

Try asking another dealer, or see if you can have it
done with a scan tool at a local repair shop

You Press #1 to get to sequence then press up/down button (scroll to #)

Remove radio.

Record radio serial number.

Got to dealer with proof of ownership papers.

Get dealer to look up radio code.

I wrong code entered three times radio will lock up for 24 hours.

Need to have radio powered up all this time until screen says CODE.

Press the station buttons if the code is 3 6 5, press 1 three times press 2 six times and so on when all the code is in press the next button this should bring on the radio.

The folding pouch that came with the truck would have a card inside a plastic holder with the number on it. I do not know about pushing a button so many times and then on to the next number. All I do is enter the five digit code and bingo. I work on mine a lot and have to reset it every time I disconnect the battery. InOP - Too many wrong code attempts have been entered and the radio must be left powered on for one hour with the battery and ignition applied before three more attempts can be made. Entering only the correct code will unlock the car radio. here's your answer . cheers
