ABS light intermittent on & off

I have 11 ABS codes stored. Code 35, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 53, 61, 62, 63. I think maybe it's just 1 or 2 abs sensors that is causing all these codes. I checked the rear speed sensor's resistance, should be 1.0Kohms-1.6kohms. No resistance measured (nothing). Then i checked the front left & right speed sensors resistance and they too do not have any resistance. The front's should have 2.0kohms- 2.8kohms if i'm correct. If there is no resistance then those sensors are bad right? Is there any possible chance that all three abs sensors have gone bad & causing all these abs codes? Can anybody help me

Hello There... where actually you can see the error code numbers? I got OBD II reader but it does not present the numbers. How to access those numbers? My ABS light is ON all the time. Please email [email protected]

Is there any physical damage to any of the cables? The front sensor wires in particular are prone to rubbing against the axle boot/steering components/anything inconvenient. The slightest damage will likely trigger the light, since the ABS is VERY sensitive to any changes in resistance.

Also, I believe there was an ABS recall for this model of Passport. Something about the algorithms the computer used to adjust the system. I don't know if it would make a difference but it's well worth a shot.

it can store one code or all codes at a time.disconnect the battery for 5 min.this will clear the memory.after reconnecting the battery if the abs light comes back on when driving then there is another problem.most times it is either the sensor or the wiring.

You need to check the sections on the abs ring for damage and rust contamination. Thoroughly clean the ring and gaps to make sure tha sensor is getting the correct count per revolution. Also check for play in the bearing which can cause a fluctuation in readings, especialyy if really loose.

did you disconnect your engine battery and wait a couple of minutes to reboot computer so it can recognize any new hard ware in stalled??hope this helps

Try unhooking your negative battery cable for about a minute. And the re-inslalling it. If that doesn't reset it , it was probably just a coincidence that the battery amd the speed sensor went bad at the same time.

Hello tctran.
Although the one sensor you measured resistance on is a bit low, you didn't list the rear sensors. In my experience with the Hondas the rear sensors seem more common for failure.
Also see quite a few problems with cracked sensor rings on the drive axles.
Check harness connections for signs of water intrusion and corrosion as the voltage created by these sensors is very low and any additional voltage loss is critical to the operation of the system.

The C1185 means the ABS power relay has failed. This is part of the ABS control module. The module is mounted to the hydraulic control unit. It is under the driver's side of the vehicle.

You would need to see what code or code's are stored in the ABS control module , then do the diagnostic's for said code . Don't know for sure ,but auto part store's maybe able to read these code's . Probably just a wheel speed sensor ,wiring problem etc...

First you need to have EBCM - electronic brake control module check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . If the light is on there is a code stored . I think most part stores can do this and for free . After you find out what code is stored , looking up that code in service repair information for diagnostic trouble shooting chart would be next step . There are a few codes too.

07 uplander. abs/traction control/stability control service light comes on intermittently most often after idling for a few minutes. A reputable repair shop replaced both front bearings thinking this

if the abs light comes on then there is a code in the abs module to direct you to the problem. find out the code first, then start digging to find the source of the problem. as intermittent as it is it does sound like an internal module problem,but it will set a code in memory if it is the case.

abs light on means some fault codes stored in your car,
toyota it2 can help you clear the code and turn off the light with airbag.

ABS dash light comes on intermittently, never staying on, mostly off.

If the ABS light is blinking the there is a code stored and you need to have it read to see what needs to be fixed, just like a check engine light. Once you have the code[s] read then and only then with the reason for the ABS light and how to go about repairing be known. My abs light along with the (!)(p) lights come on regularly. I just had a full bread job done including the parking brake shoes and this problem still ocurrs.

generally when a abs light and the brake lights come on its related to a intermittant wheel sensor issue or the ABS module. Only by following the manufactures procedures for the code stored will anyone get to the source of the problem.

Driver's seat won't move and ABS lights come on

See if one of the wires under the seat is pinched and shorting out. The abs light maybe a dirty sensor.
