I have a 1996 subaru outback. I do not have a keyless remote, but my brake lights are flashing after reconnecting the battery. There is a sticker that says you can turn the key to the run position and hold down a button for "1" second. I do not know where that button is.

do you have a trailer hitch with a wiring convertor box when these malfunction you have some crazy problems,if not you may have a broken solder joint on the steering column switch i have seen this before
