HI...
The common cause of the problem that you related.
Is the FUEL PUMP RELAY " Called MAIN RELAY.
Is located : left side under the dash.
Is a BIG relay gray colour. with a connector of 7 or 8 wires.

this one's tricky. you have to drop the fuel tank and clean the grounds for the fuel pump (such a mess to do) and make sure that the ecu and battery are properly grounded, as well as cleaned. if the problem persists, you may have wiring damage to the fuel pump or the ecu could just be freaking out.

I have a 2000 nissan frontier crew cab. Great vehicle! about a year ago at around 100,000 miles she started stalling and running really rough. I replaced the distributor cap, all the spark plugs and wires...about $85.00 worth of stuff.
She now runs like a champ again. I would recommend this if you have not done it...I have owned the truck since it had about 55,000 miles on it. I had never done any of these things...the spark plugs literally fell apart when I pulled them. The last plug is a total bear...it is all the way at the back very close to the firewall. "You will SEE a small "notch" in the fire wall...this is where you follow the notch down to the plug with your wrench..you will also need a 45degree elbow on the wrench with a long extender or you'll never get it off and the new one back on...it was a pain!
Hope this helps.

Testimonial: "yes this was god advice but i actually discovered that thee bearings on the distributor were starting to disintegrate and I needed to replace the distributor. the shavings were getting into the crank positioning sensor and causing the stall, when i would restart the truck the pieces would fall out and run until another piece would fall back into the sensor. I would recommend the cps be removed to inspect when replacing plugs, wires or cap to avoid disrt. lockup that will cause the sprocket on the cam to disintegrate, this is what happened to me and was very expensive and time consuming to repair. i did the work myself yet the cost of parts were upwards of $900."
SOURCE: Volvo 240 2.3L FI the engine has spark, no injector pluse.
Pull the return fuel line off the back of the fuel pressure regulator and plugit.
attach another hose and clamp it to the back of thefp regulator place the othe end in a container.
pull the coil wire and have someone crank the engine or use a remote starter switch.there should be a steady stream of fuel into the container. If not check your intank pump and main body pumps for electrical connections.
If there is a steady stream from the fuel rail and still no gas at the plugs.
Find another fuel injector for a volvo, unplug the # 1 injector electrical connnection and plug in the extra one placing it in a container and crank the engine over. There s/b an even spray of fuel from injector.
If not check for 12 volts at the injector connectrion. If no volts, check backwards to the ballast resistor which controls the injectors and then to the radio suppression relay etc.
