Kia rio gearbox oil filler location? 1.3 2004 manual

oil filler plug on the manual gearbox usually are located on iether side of the gearbox with a square or hexagonal head plug or bolt. Some are Allen head drive.

that was not the filler hole that was the reverse idler pin you may have to do a partial tear down to install the pin probably split the case at least

no not really but it may be easier to buy another gearbox from scrapyard as splitting a manual gearbox is not that easy without the right tools,now what you do in this case is to remove the filler plug and then pump in with a grease gun some LM grease say about a half kilo can and what happens is the grease gets hot in driving and settles to the bottom of the gearbox sealing it up for you ,old fleet fitters trick from 40 yrs ago but it does work .cloudy and thunderstorm here in spain at the moment hence which is why iam on here and not in the garden watering my orange trees

Just checking.... it is a manual gearbox?

You may need a special tool for the drain plug and a 17mm allen key for the filler (some use the special drain tool for the filler as well)

The drain plug is located under the diff housing.

The filler plug is located on the left (nearside) off the gearbox (look to the left of the hole and you can see the 17mm hex filler bung).

Check you can undo the filler bung, then drain the gearbox oil.

Refit drain bung and fill gearbox through filler/level ********* until gearbox oil is up to the level of the filler bung.

Refit, test drive, check for leaks and retest level again when cold.

you have to take off the speedometer cable/wiring harness from the top of the trans and fill it from there....one 10mm bolt...very awkward spot...it might be snug, so just take a flat head screwdriver from underneath to tap it loose...
