Wired the radio in and dash lights didnt work. Somebody else had been fooling with the wiring and had the orange wire from the 2 wire connector going to the gray wire on the 3 wire connector. When I corrected this the dash lights quit working. On the aftermarket wiring harness there is an illumination wire, (from the 2 wire connector) and a dimmer wire (from the 3 wire connector). Seems like these ought to be the same thing. Should I have to tie these wires together to get my dash to iluminate or do I have some other internal wiring issue in the car somewhere?

Unfortuantely, there is not a plug in wiring harness for this vehicle. You will have to splice in a 4-Flat Plug. No converter box is needed since it's a standard 2-wire system. You can view this part if you click here.
White - Ground
Yellow - Left Turn
Green - Right Turn
Brown - Running Lights
Now, this is only to wire you to a 4-flat. If you need a bigger plug like a 6-way or 7-way, there are adapters. You can view these if you click here.
If you are going to install a brake controller also, you will need another wiring kit that includes a circuit breaker and wire. You can view this here.
Hope this helps!
SOURCE: Aftermarket Pioneer Stereo w/ harness, no Dash Illumination
havent a clue without looking at it but this is one of them things best left alone as i have had similar before where it runs through radio, including the alarm and the factory immobiliser cut in.just loop from another circuit to make the lights work
SOURCE: 7 wire harness going to blower motor resistor
There is an updated resistor/connector package. Very expensive from GM, try your local NAPA or other parts supplier for a replacement
SOURCE: I HAVE A 93 S15 JIMMY 4X4. NO POWER TO 4X4 SWITCH
Try pulling the 5 amp fuse on the fuse box under the drivers side of dash that says tccm (transfer case control module) for 2 1/2 minutes, replace the fuse after 2 1/2 minutes then cycle the switch on and off without starting the engine 5 times. This resets the module.
SOURCE: 92 GMC Jimmy Replaced fuel pressure and fuel
if you say you replaced the fuel pressure ? "regulator or pump" that was not very clear as to which so i am guessing and the filter but have no fuel to the fuel bar valve either you have no power to the pump or a clogged fuel line or a blown fuse or a short in the power suppluy to the fuel pump if you turn the key to on position without cranking it do you hear a slight humming noise if so the fuel pump is working ..if you do now hear this chances are as i stated above
the use of a test light is required to check for power to the pump as wel do you smell any gas =fuel lines are rotted .let ne know what you discover and check all your fuses
