My son has a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville. We replaced the head unit over the weekend and now the HVAC wont work. It is a digital dual zone unit. It does heat and blow on low, but you cannot change any of the settings. The LED on it lights up with 3 dashes across the display. Is the control unit bad or has a wire been cut?
Having the module checked for DTC'S should be your first step. DTC B1000 ECU Malfunction
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Observe the display of the heater and A/C control.
Does the heater and A/C control display only - - -?

Yes - Go to Step 6
No - Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Notice: The circuit terminates at a flat wire connector. Use the J 42675 Flat Wire Probe Adapter Kit in order to avoid damage and properly test the circuit.
Turn OFF the ignition.
Disconnect the heater and A/C control.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Measure the voltage from the KDD data circuit to a good ground.
Does the voltage measure near the specified value?
1 Vdc Pin # 6 heater a/c control panel .
Yes - Go to Step 7
No - Go to Step 10
The instrument panel module (IPM) communicates with the heater and A/C control via the keyboard display driver (KDD) data bus. This communication link is only used by the IPM and the heater and A/C control.

Notice: The circuit terminates at a flat wire connector. Use the J 42675 Flat Wire Probe Adapter Kit in order to avoid damage and properly test the circuit.
Measure the frequency from the KDD clock circuit to a good ground. This is pin # 5 at the heater - A/C control head .
Does the frequency measure near the specified value?
930 Hz
YES - Go to Step 12
NO - Go to Step 11

Notice: The circuit terminates at a flat wire connector. Use the J 42675 Flat Wire Probe Adapter Kit in order to avoid damage and properly test the circuit.
Test the KDD clock circuit for a short to voltage, a short to ground, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?

u can get one to use out of a srvice book at the libruary
SOURCE: Pontiac Bonneville(2000) oil pressure sending unit
The oil pressure sending unit is located behind the oil filter, Threaded into an aluminunm housing. It has wiring that plugs into the sending unit. The oil filter has to be removed and you will need a deep well socket and a 6 inch extension. Change the oil and the sending unit together.
SOURCE: 2005 Pontiac Bonneville hvac blower does not come on
Start by checking the blower resistor. It should be under the dash on the passenger side near the blower itself. You will need to remove the glove box to access it. It is a small plate that has only a few screws and a group of wires that go to a plug in the center. Unplug it and remove the screws. When you pull it out it should look like a series of small spring shaped coils. Most likely one or two of them will be burned up. Replace it in reverse order and your blower should start working again. If this is not the problem then test the fan motor itself. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The blower on my 2005 Bonny GXP quit at about 60,000 miles (I really like using High). The blower is under the passenger dash. Mine had a three wire connector. The center wire should have 12 volts. It doesn't take very long to pull the fan out. Mine was toasted. Aftermarket fan was about $130.

SOURCE: I have 2001 Pontiac Bonneville My heat works but
Your passenger side temperature door actuator is bad. You can access the actuator by removing the glove box & hush panel. The actuator is on the side of the HVAC box. If you can gain access to the actuator watch the center of the actuator as you change the temp on the control head, if the actuator does not move it is bad, if it does, the door inside the HVAC box is bad. Most likely its the actuator. If you remove the actuator & open it up you will most likely find the large center plastic gear is cracked all the way through. It is held in place by 2 or 3 7/32 screws. Once you replace it, disconnect your battery wait 30 seconds and reconnect it to reset the HVAC control head so it can relearn your actuator positions. It can take up to 5 minutes for the control head to go through it's relearn procedure. You can try resetting the actuator first , but make sure your radio is turned off before you disconnect the battery and if your luck, the actuator may not have any broken parts and the gears may just need to be freed up and lubed. Good luck friend and hope this helps.
