I bought my car 2 days ago and immediately put octane 93 V-POWER at shell. The recommended gas is octane 87. Within 24 hours, the engine began to shake terribly and couldn't drive the car. I took it to the dealer where they diagnized code 0301 cylinder 1 misfire and suggested that i change the spark plug. Will this solve the problem? what do you think of my half-tank full of octance 93, what do i need to do about it? Drain it? Please i need your help!
one more question about the gas; is it ok to add octane 87 to the octane 93 already in my car? can that help speed up the repairing process? Thanks again1Hey thanks for your response!

Change the spark plug, you might as well change all of them while you are at it. Don't worry about the half full tank of gas, just run the car as low as you can and then refill with 87.

These things must be checked /spark plug gap/ space between the center firing pin and the electrode base use a plug gap tool to check from any auto parts store , distributor cap , and rotor maybe worn there's to much space/air gap and worn spark plug wire contacts inside, clean out the throttle body with fuel injection cleaner and put a new air filter in //when doing these things if your plugs are really worn out and you can't regap them then do a complete tune up on the vehicle along with the throttle body cleaning these parts needed are //////spark plugs and plug wires///distributor cap and rotor////air filter///gas filter///when cleaning the throttle body if you see dark brown gunk behind the throttle plate use the whole can to clean it out and put 2 cans in the gas tank with a premium 93 octane fuel from EX. BP,MOBILE, SHELL, EXXON AMOCO,CITGO////THESE NAME BRAND FUELS HAVE DETERGENTS IN THEM TO KEEP YOUR SYSTEM CLEAN ////DO NOT USE LIBERTY ,DELTA,VALERO,WAVE ,USA, OR ANY OTHER NO NAME FUEL BECAUSE YOU ARE DOING A LOT OF DAMAGE INSIDE THE CYLINDERS AND CATALYTIC CONVERTORS THAT YOU CAN'T SEE //PUT THE 2 CANS IN BERRIMANS IS THE BEST BUT GUM OUT WILL WORK TO FILL UP WITH 93 OCTANE AND NOW GO FOR A RIDE FOR 1 HOUR AT 55MPH OR MORE DEPENDING ON SPEED LIMIT OK, THE HIGHER THE OCTANE LEVEL THE SLOWER THE FUEL BURNS BECAUSE IT IS MORE STABILE COMBINED WITH THE 2 CANS WILL PRODUCE A MUCH HOTTER FLAME IN THE EXHAUST TO BURN OFF THE GUNK INSIDE THE ENGINE AND CATALYTIC CONVERTORS PLEASE SEE NEXT PART IN COMMENTS
Define 'wrong fuel'.
Is it gasoline and you put in diesel ?
Diesel and you put in gas ?
87 octane vs 93 is not a total deal k i l l e r.
I've accidentally put 87 in my vehicle that says use 93 and nothing happened. I did baby it so as to not get into detonation and at 1/2 tank, I topped off with 93 to raise the octane into the 90 range.
That is not a problem it is actually recommended that you use premium 93-94 Octane fuel, if you put turbo blue (115) in it that would be a problem but 93-94 octane is the VW recommended fuel type.
Your car is and will be fine - the lower octane fuel just predisposes the engine to pre-ignition pinging (you don't want to make a habit of it, but its no big deal). Plus, by diluting it with Ultra 93 octane, you raised the overall octane of the fuel in the tank to somewhere around (87+93) /2 = 90. Happy motoring.
remove the plug from the #1 cylinder, and install it into the #2 cylinder , and put plug from # 2 clyinder in to #1 plug hole, connect plug wires, and start up vehichle, and if computer shows misfire on # 2 cylinder , then you have a bad plug, possibly porcelin insulator could have a hair line crack in it, hope that this information has helped you.
You should be using regular unleaded. This is "regular" 87-octane gasoline. You have no reason to need gas with a higher octane, it would be a waste, stick to 87.
you should have a factory affixed sticker inside gas compartment cover listing premium fuel only or also listed in your owners manual. Otherwise if you notice that you're vehicle is making a pinging sound while accelerating or climbing a hill for instance then you may want to step up to 89 or 93 octane and try to avoid purchasing fuel with ethanol added it's **** and degrades your fuel quality/octane ratio
Your jeep has two engine options, one was a standard 4.7 V8 and the High Output V8. Below is the recommended octane fuel rating. Unleaded regular, 87 octane (R + M)/2 - Standard; Unleaded premium, 93 octane (R+M)/2 recommended - High Output Thank you for using fixya and be safe.
