I have a 1996 cadillac and it like to spit and sputter when i first push on the gas to go and stops after i get up to about 35 mph. how can i fix it.
Have your plugs been changed,sounds like a wire may be crossed

my 1990 cadillac sedan deville. just replaced starter and ignition, oh yea and the steering wheel and column. now the M F'in thing wont stay on when i press the gas. it revs up to about 1500 then wants to die out and does so when i let off gas.
My northstar hesitates at low speeds but runs fine after about 1500 rpm. It's not my head gasket, there is no water in my oil. could it be my fuel pump? or filter? my pump has been louder than usual at some times. it also has a spontaneous popping noise at low speeds. Help please.
You are likely having a problem with fuel deliver or air delivery. There could be a fuel pump, fuel filter, or vacuum leak issue. There could be other issues, but if the car runs ok above 35mph, it would indicate that at slower speeds, the reduced vacuum and fuel demands are casusing the engine to stall, whereas at higher speeds there is sufficient vacuum and/or fuel to keep the engine running. Sounds counter-intuitive, but sometime car problems are. You need to diagnose a few issues before you can fix the problem.
Does the car idle smoothly?
How is the gas mileage (compared to when car ran normal)?
Do you have sufficient power above 35mph?
Has the car been worked on recently?
