1994 Camaro Z28. Used remote to unlock car = all ok. Turned key to start position, waited to hear fuel pump "charge" fuel system (radio came on). Turned key to farther to engage starter and ENTIRE electrical system went dead. No dash lights, no dome light, no headlights... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It was running fine 5 hours ago. Anyone help?

yes you can. it is near the center, a little to the left, start with a drill and drill a little hole so you can make sure your near it. but i dont suggest cutting it out.

bad ground cable,use a jumper cable from negative to alternator bracket, if it starts thats it.

it might be the optispark harness wire.it starts and runs good. once u turn it off its hard to turn back on?

I had a similar problem, took it to get diagnosed and was instructed to give them $1100 because of a faulty reading on the distributer, rather than paying $650 for a unit I found plenty available new for under $200 I bought an OEM for $189. Now the labour can be found cheaper elsewhere. I then discovered that the module may also be at fault but I would have to replace the dizzy first, Then discovered that the Air Flow meter {afm} may need to be taken off and cleaned with a carby cleaning spray, this is a do it yourself fix costing you about $8 a can of cleaner
Unscrew the units clamps and disconnect the plug, I can't stress enough, DO NOT touch the fine wires inside, spray the carbon buildup off the inside and blow/air dry, {do not rinse with water.} reinstall the unit in the reverse of which it was removed, Alternativly you may have fuel blockage in the lines, try replacing the fuel filter {cheapest fix}
Hope this helps

if voltage reulator on alt. does not stop current after battery is charged it will over charge battery abd can drain cell from boiling electrolite out.check 4 bulged battery case(swelling) indication of overchaeging.the start problem could be your starter wires connection.remove starter wires clean contacts and torque respectively.dont forget the ground to motor.sounds like a loose or corroded contact somewhere.

You may have a blown a fusible link. they are special wires spliced into the major electical circuits such as the starter, alternator etc that melt like a fuse to protect the car from a possible fire in the event of a major short or malfunction of a component. Either that or a total battery cell failure (which rarely happens). check wires for tightness.
