First you need to find out where the problem is! Basically, you divide it up to three categories. Charging/starter; fuel system and engine. You need to start with the charging/starter category. Even if the engine turns over when you are trying to start the car suggest you try a jump start. If it won't start when you are jump starting it, then it probably isn't the battery or alternator but still could be the starter. If it DOES start, then the problem is either you battery or alternator or cables.
Depending on what your indications are depends on what you need to do to narrow down the problem.
