I had same problem. And took me 3 min. To fix.. I got this tip from a old school mechanic... I did #1 and #2 in bathroom... Mixed in a cup... Mixed it for exactly 32.6 seconds... Not more not less... Put it in gas tank... Saved enough to during a shot of it... Beat my dick and came on the actuator pump.. Got un and WALA!!! 4x4 working!!!!

My 4 wheel drive stop working on my 2001 ZR2 chevrolet Tracker. It has a
shifter on the floor and when it is put into 4 hi or 4 lo. the vehicle does not change from two wheel drive into 4. The Dash light indicator stop coming on. What should I check?

I found the Problem,It was a broken red wire on the Electrical connector under the Right side front bumper. There is a air pump under the front bumper passenger side.

there is a vacuum actuator under the battery tray. it is the most common cause for this issue. also the cable that goes from that actuator to the differential stretches sometimes causing it to engage and not engage depending on how bad it is.

You need to take the cover off your hub and clean and grease the lock ring. It is attached to the spring. It sounds as though your hub is rusted open.

That is most likely the front differential actuator ...let me know how that works out please

Two things maybe your problem:1 .Front axle actuator to engage 4wd is not releasing. 2. Front axle u-joint needs replacing. Lift car on jacks with front end off ground. Then spin tires by hand as fast as you can and see if you hear the noise and where it is coming from ( spin in both directions).
