2002 Lexus IS300. The issue seems to be my battery. I was low on CCA's and it would not start in the cold, but would be fine in the warm temps. I tested the battery and the CCA's were low, had it charged and it was fine. Now I have let is set without starting it for a couple of months. It would not start so I traded out the battery. I tried charging the battery and actually got it started as soon as it was changed out. It died immediately after disconnecting the cables and turning it off. No luck starting it again. Now, I tried to charge it again, no luck. Also, when I tried to jump it, the final negative connection to the dead battery begin sparking and emitting lots of heat. Now when I attempt to jump it, the hazard lights stay continuously on but nothing else...no radio or other lights. Then as soon as I disconnect the jumper cables and take the key out, the lights stay lit until they die out. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks!

You should check your battery cables with an ohmmeter and see if they have any resistance,they should be at 0 ohms or just alittle over,but could possibly be the starter solenoid also.I had this same problem with my Toyota last year,hard starting sometimes needed a jump and then the alt went bad,turned out to be the solenoid was shorting intermittantly.Hope this helps.

check the fuses in the POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX under the hood, There is a 75A in-line fuse and #11 - 15A fuse see if they are good.... test your alt. loom for opens, and cables .....hope this helps...GL

your battery is dead!! Even if jumped, if the battery is dead celled it will not have sufficient power to crank. Dead celled batteries will hold a charge momentarily then slowly die again. I recommend temporarily swapping a battery from another vehicle to try and start your ES300. This is to make sure it isnt the starter or alternator thats the problem. To test the alternator, use a voltmeter at the battery terminals (w/car started and running) to check voltage should be (13.5-14.5 volts). If you do not have a voltmeter,(old school way) simply start the car, while engine running pull the positive terminal off the battery(make sure NOT to ground the positive terminal). If the vehicle dies, possible alternator or alt circuit failure. Bring it to autozone or advance auto to test for free. Hopefully this helps...please rate...thanks

the only way to get them out is to remove the unit from the car and disassemble it. if you replace the unit it will go to an exchange company and if you request it they will send your cd's back.

It is normal for batteries to lose a good deal of their power due to cold temperatures. If you want better starting power, try using a battery charger/maintainer overnight. It should charge at no more than 2 amps. The slow trickle charging overnight will charge and warm up the battery and allow it to develop full power for a cold morning start.

Like almost every thing there can be a number of thing causing this. Checking the Ambient temperature sensor would be a good place to start. The sensor is located in the front bumper and can be tested with ohm meter. The next item that should be checked is the servomotor that is a little involved so let me know what happened with this temp sensor first. also check the plug and wires out to the temp sensor also.
