SOURCE: How to reset Check Engine

You can remove the NEG battery terminal for 10 minutes and it will clear. Or go to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan, find out why it came on, then have them clear it with their scanner.

SOURCE: Overdrive light is flashing on my 1996 Mercury

That usually means the transmission is in "LIMP" mode... Just to get you home or to a Service Center of your choice (one that does transmissions).... When it O/D blinks the car will drive sluggish... it stays in second gear and does not shift.... just so you can LIMP somewhere...... a good price to rebuild this transmission is about 1500 dollars.... Good Luck

How do you change key less entry code on a 2003 mercury grand marquis

look on the trunk arm piston side for a code-this should be your permanent code number. to reset this number press this factory code number fo;;owed immediatly followed by the 1/2 button (within 5 seconds)!
- This will activate the code setting mode-- Enter your new 5 digit code and you are done( again you only have 5 seconds to do this or you have to start from the beginning) the doors should go through a cycling mode(lock /unlock) this tells you that it worked!!
(dont forget your new code) good luck also remember that you have a chip in your key-so dont try getting one made at the store to put in the ignition-you will end up stranded somewhere(not fun) good luck!

the code changes everytime you use the remote so that only your remote unlocks your car,not everybody elses.the key has a code inbuilt into it so the car will only start with your key...(this is dealer programmable)

HOW DO I RESET MY DOOR CODES FOR MY 1996 GRAND MARQUIS

Up to three personal entry codes may be programmed to the vehicle. To create your own personal entry code:

  • 1. Enter the factory set code.
  • 2. Within five seconds press the 1 2 on the keypad.
  • 3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. Each number must be entered within five seconds of each other.
  • 4. Press 1 2, 3 4 or 5 6 to indicate which of the three personal entry code positions you wish to use.
  • 5. The doors will again lock then unlock to confirm that your personal key code has been programmed to the module.
Tips:

  • Do not set a code that uses five of the same number.
  • Do not use five numbers in sequential order.
  • The factory set code will work even if you have set your own personal code.
  • If you program a code to a position that already contains a set code, the previously-set code will be erased.

Erasing personal code
  • 1. Enter the factory set 5digit code.
  • 2. Within five seconds, press the 1 2 on the keypad and release.
  • 3. Press and hold the 1 2 for two seconds. This must be done within five seconds of completing Step 2.
All personal codes are now erased and only the factory set 5digit code will work.
