Yes, I know that, but I am not really clear on how to correctly remove the glove box because I tried and was concerned that I was removing too many things!!!

To change the cabin air filters (there are two, that are in same location), you first have to remove the glovebox. The glovebox itself will not come off. You have to get a phillips head screwdriver to remove the 5 screws. With the glovebox closed, locate the two screws underneath and remove, one on each side. Next open the glovebox, remove the two screws at the top. The fifth screw is on the right behind the plastic molding. Pull back on the top of the lower piece of molding until the bracket pops out. The piece of plastic located just above that piece needs to be pulled out. No need to take it out all the way, just enough to get to the screw. Once removed, with the glovebox open take the fuse panel cover to the right off to allow you better grip. Pull both sides evenly until glove box pops out.
Get a flashlight and shine it on the right side behind where the glovebox was. There is a small plastic cover about 1 inch tall by 5 inches long. It is clipped in place. Push up on the plastic clip with your thumb while pulling out and down with your other finger/fingers. Behind this is one filter. Remove it best you can. Be careful, mine had dead bee's/wasps/dust/dirt/pinestraw/etc. After removing the first, you will notice a second one to the right of that. Slide that one to the left and remove the same way as the first. Look at those filters when you remove and take note the direction of AIR FLOW ^marking. Before replacing with the new ones, vacuum out inside where the filters go as best you can to remove all that crud that fell off of the old filters when removed.
Reinstallation is the reverse of how you removed. I hope this helps all my fellow Pathfinders out there.

This filter should be behind the glove box.
You need to remove this to get to it.

Where is cabin air filter on 1997 nissan pathfinder

The 1997 Pathfinder does not have a Cabin Ait Filter. Not until 2001-2002 did Pathfinders come with CAFs. I have a 1998 Pathfinder and wasted 2 hours of my life I will never get back because some outfit on the Internet was listing a CAF for 96 and on Pathfinders they obviously had not done their research.
