Knock sensor needs to be replaced where is it located and how long would it take to replace?

    on my 96 avalalon it was a broke wire that connected to the knock sensory making the knock sensory light come onto .

    the knock sensor if you have the v6 is right under the manifold i heard im goin to the same process expensive little ******

On a 3.0 V6, This is not an easy process! It is located under the lower intake manifold, in the center of the V of the engine, between the heads

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the intake manifold.
Disconnect the sensor connector.
Remove the sensor from the engine block.

oil pump is in the oil pan and if you have no or low oil pressure replace pump before doing anything with knock sensor. knock sensor is more or less a microphone and listens for spark knock but will set codes for any knocking or tapping noise which is commonly heard if oil pump is malfunctioning
