I know it is an electrical problem if it is the fuel pump relay or fuel pump

    a) where is relay

    b) how does one get fuel pump out it is under back seat?

  • roryniel Oct 04, 2008

Sorry Teko firstly thanks for fast response does the pump just slide out or does one unscrew it, lifted plate over cover but saw no grip where one can twist it.

Sounds like you have an electrical problem. I think it would be an idea to let an expert have a look at it even if they only diagnose the problem and you conduct the repair yourself.

Consult owner's manual to locate relay designation. Remove rear seat to locate cover sheilding fuel pump.

Firstly, if when you have removed the rear seat and plate covering the fuel pump you should be able to hear the pump purge when you switch on the ignition and when you start the car you will hear it operating.

With the symptoms your describing I would be surprised if it was the fuel pump or relay as neither of these components would cause the dials to fluctuate.

Guage fluctuation and juddering would more suggest to me that a control module or connection to a control module is faulty.

Electrical problems bmw 1999 318i

these system all have a common control module, so the lights are related to a single part failure, since parts cost a tidy amount of cash for this car have the dealer use there special scanner and see what trouble code is stored for the problem, whenever the lights are on there will be a trouble code stored by the control module.

Hello there

If you drive an automatic and it starts to judder at low speeds than that means you transmission isn't down shifting as the speed is reduced. In the first instance you should get your transmission oil changed.

Hope this helps and please don't forget to rate me.
