I set off the security alarm on my car & I've gone back & forth between the door & ignition key not knowing which is which. Security light has stayed on & either doesn't run long or won't start up. I've been told I need a new ignition & key but I think I just need to reset the security.

disconnect the negative battery cable for about three minutes, replace, put key in ignition and turn it on, DO NOT START CAR, turn it off, remove key, reinsert key and start car

Also I put together the remote to the car & tried it & nothing happened. but maybe it messed something up? what I mentioned in my 1st comment happened the past 2 days. the remote incident that I just mentioned, happened the day of.
