The heat in my 2005 Elantra will not work unless I am moving.

I have brought the car to the dealer, who said nothing is wrong with it. I live in Upstate NY and I need my heat and defrost in the mornings, but the car will not warm up. What's worse, is that the heat will ONLY work if my car is moving. If I drive, the heat works fine, but if I stop at a light, or I am going down a hill (not on the accelerator), I have cold air blowing. I am frustrated as can be at this point, because I freeze on my way to work, and I can never thaw my windows before I drive with out scrapping them... even when most other people just let the car run for a bit. Please help.

Sounds like a bad water pump. The water pump must have enough force to move the hot antifreeze thru the heater and pull it back into itself thru the outlet of the heater. At idle, the pump may not have enough efficiency to do this. don-ohio (:^)

Change the thermostat and make sure to bleed the system of air when refilling with coolant. You should have lots of heat in a 2005 Elantra at idle or driving.

SOURCE: 2000 Elantra Overheating

First when vehicle is cold like in the morning check and make sure that the vehicle has enough coolant/ antifreeze in radiator and reservoir. If coolant is need use a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze. You will need some time to do this let car run at idle until the temp guage is in the middle NOT+ normal operating temperature. At this point if the thermostat should be in the open position. Let vehicle run and check to make sure that radiator fan comes on. This should come on when guage is about midway/half way. If temperature rises above half going to h/hot and fan doesn't come on, you either have a BAD FAN BAD FAN SWITCH BAD FAN RELAY OR BLOWN FAN SWITCH FUSE. You will need to check all of the following I will help if its needed. If fan comes on and doesn't go off and vehicle continues to get hot even with fan running. Feel radiator hoses and see if the lower radiator hose is cool/cold. If it is you have thermostat that stuck closed. Replace thermostat and fix problem. If all the above is good and vehicle continues to over heat. THE BAD NEW IS THAT YOU MAY HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET /CRACKED HEAD /BROKEN WATER JACKET. Basically you will need a HEAD JOB at least a head gasket. ONe tell tail sign of this is oil looking like milkshake/chocolate milk-a creamish while residue in oil or antifreeze. Contact if you need hel0p. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA

SOURCE: 2004 Hyundai Elantra problems after replacing alternator

Sound to me like some wires were either disturbed or crossed and are shorting out maybe when you replaced the alternator?Maybe have a look at the alternator connections again and make sure everything is correct and tight and that the new alternator is the right one for your car.Other than that its a case of tracing the wires from the alternator to the fusebox to find whats blowing your fuse.

Passenger side low beam doesn't work. Notice bulb is out. Replaced bulb but still doesn't work. High beam works fine. No problem with driver side. Is there a fuse for the left side?

No you must have a wiring problem if the bulb is good. You can test the bulb out of the car. Do not touch any halogen type bulb with your bare skin.

I have Hyundai Elantra GT Manual transmission, the Temperature gage keeps going all the way to high yet the engine is not over heated, and once I change gear the temperature Gage drops to normal and t

Changing gears and the temp gauge have nothing in common. First, check the coolant level. If gets low an air pocket in the engine will cause the gauge to go high, then back to normal. Next would be to check the wiring. could be the gauge/sensor wire is shorting to ground.

05Marquis-When I put on the brakes, the engine races

Did they road test the car with the scan tool along &
capture live data?

What did you pay for?

What did they do?

Try a dealer or different shop

You drive the car long enough for the
problem to occur, they have to do the same

Did you leave the car for a few days, ever use
the shop before, are they capable of that kind
of diagnostics?

My 2005 Hyundai Elantra is going through headlights like there's no tomorrow!

I have found this many times wit some aftermarket bulbs, but the most common problem is that because the wire clip that holds the bulb is so hard to get to (unless you do it every day) it may get bent while trying to remove it. When this happens the bulb vibrates and will blow just from the vibration. Wiggle the bulb to see if it feels loose, if so go to the dealer and buy a new clip. you will need to remove the headlamp to replace it.

It's probably not your alternator. The airbag light would be on for an overvoltage condition.

The Radio is a True Statement. It will need a Lockout Code installed to bypass the Theft Deterent. On the Remote, The light will still flash But, It could still need a Battery anyway if the Battery has just enough Power to Turn the Light on and not Enough to send the Code to the Vehicle to Perform the Desired Actions.
