    Hello! Procedure:
-warm up the car to operating temps
    -raise the car on jackstands
    -remove the drain bolt
-clean the drain bolt of metal shavings
-allow the old ATF-Z1 to drain
    -reinstall the drain bolt
    -lower the car
-fill up the trans with new ATF-Z1 (about 3.1 quarts)
-check the fluid levels via the dipstick

To flush your transmission, do these steps about 3 or 4 times taking a 5 minute drive after each fluid change.if you do a flush, be sure to pick up a good 12-16 quarts of ATF-Z1. Saailer

Check transmission fluid

The most common transmission problem on a Nissan pickup is operating the truck with the transmission fluid low. Nissan owners needs to pull the dip-stick and see if the level is low. The fluid level must be checked when the truck engine is idling. Nissan pickup owners also need to look at the color of the fluid and see if it needs to be changed or just leveled off. The color must be transparent and not black or brownish in color. The owner must also smell the transmission fluid to see if the fluid smells burnt. If the transmission fluid smells burnt, then the transmission fluid must be changed as soon as possible. Over-filling the transmission fluid level also creates Nissan pickup transmission problems.

Should my highlander with 70000 miles need automatic transmission fluid flush and a power steering flush?

it never hurts to service the power steering and the transmission, but at 70xxxmi it is not necessary if you check the owners manual it should show a transmission service at 100xxxmi but you will find nothing in the owners manual about the power steering this is a fairly new thing that we are seeing some shops do, i am not sold on weather it needs done at all.

My tranny slips some times but it will catch after a few min

SOUND LIKE TRANSMISSION FLUID LOW OR YOU NEED A TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER CHANGE.THE 4T40E OR 4T45E IF YOU DONT SEE TRANSMISSION DIP STICK.BEST TO DO A FILTER AND FLUID CHANGE.YOU NEED 7 QUARTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID A NEW TRANSMISSION FILTER AND PAN GASKET.I WOULD BUY FILTER AND PAN GASKET AT DEALERSHIP.YOU NEED A LARGE DRAIN PAN TO CATCH TRANSMISSION FLUID.IF YOU HAVE A TRANSMISSION DIP STICK. BEFORE YOU FIRST BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL ON DIP STICK.SHOULD BE ON THE FULL MARK.IF NOT ADD FLUID TO FULL MARK.THEN CRANK VECHICLE LET IDLE UNTIL ENGINE HOT OPERATION TEMPERATURE ABOUT 10 MINUTES.THEN APPLY BRAKE PEDAL.THEN SLOWLY SHIFT TRANSMISSION SHIFTER THROUGH ALL GEARS 2 TIMES.THEN PUT TRANSMISSION IN PARK.CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.IF NOT AT FULL MARK ADD TRANSMISSION FLUID UNTIL LEVEL CORRECT.

I need to change the transmission fluid, How to do that?

As there is no drain plug for transmission fluid like there is for engine oil, the only way to change the transmission fluid is to remove the transmission cover located under the car. The cover is held on by by something like 18-20 bolts. When you remove the transmission cover you'll need to replace the gasket. It is a good idea to replace the transmission fluid filter when changing the fluid and seeing it is sold with the new gasket for the transmission cover. Hope that helps

The car idles fine but makes a whirring noise when accelerator is depressed. The car shifts into gear but doesn't move when given gas.

Transmission filter and fluid needs changing and, for 70 bucks, needs to be flushed. This maintenance should be done every 100000 miles, at most; I do mine at 70000.

Where is the drain plug located on a Volvo 2000

There no tranny drain plug, you must drop the pan to change the fluid and filter. Standard fluid is fne. I believe Dextron3 but double check with the autoparts store (tell them you have a volvo) and they can lookup the correct type of ATF.

I can't locate the transmission fluid dip stick for 2003 Grandam

Your transmission is sealed and has no dip stick, checking the fluid level properly involves using a factory scan tool.

Transmission fluid service

You should change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles.
Very good idea at your current mileage.
