Check all the interior lights in the truck, look at the visors which are the single biggest cayuse of the battery drain, look at night. Also Have the batteries tested, a shorted cell will draw them down as well. Never overlook the obvious.
Chances are, your alternator is on its way out. I had a similar issue a couple years back where the battery light was coming on in winter at startup but would turn off after a couple of minutes of driving. I know it was not charging the battery when the light was on because my head lamps and dashboard lights were a little dimmer than normal. I decided to just put a new one in instead of possibly getting **** in the cold somewhere. If I remember correctly, the voltage regulator is built into the alternator. I was tinkering with idea of pulling it out and trying to fix it, but it's really not worth it. Now, if you don't notice your lights being a little bit dimmer when the battery light is on like I did, the issue could be your battery. It should have 13.5 volts on it. Or you can just take it in to some auto parts store to have it tested. They usually do that for free.
hi i have a 51 reg daewoo matiz and i have noticed a noise appearing for a few minutes when driving a around 30 to 40 mph then it stops then starts agin a few minutes later ,it sounds like its coming from some where behind the speedometer ,it sounds like a dry spinning noise and i did notice the speedo needle flickering but it orso made the noise when starting from cold
Information is needed on the Temperature and Humidity conditions in order to determine if this is an Icing problem in the Air Induction system from fresh air intake up to and including the throttle body. It seems that this condition is apparent only within the first half mile or less immediately after start up on my truck. This is considered relatively normal in Michigan where I live. Perhaps it is also a condition most noticeable only in the Spring or Fall when Gasoline is formulated differently. In Spring Winter formula Gasoline contains "Light Ends" to aid Cold Starting. In Fall the Gasoline is sometimes not formulated to coincide with the lower mean average temperature in your geographic area.
Many other things can influence this condition. Having a Clean Air Filter, good Spark Plugs as recommended by the manufacturer. Another often over looked item is the Fuel Filter. One more item which is very expensive is a partially clogged Catalytic Converter which causes excessive Back Pressure and also reduces performance noticeably. Even the Mass Airflow Sensor can be too cold. It is electrically Heated but takes a couple of minutes to warm up. As you can see, there are many possibilities which can affect "Cold Start Drive away". I have attempted to enlighten you in what to look for then check out the components and/or conditions apparent when this occurs.
