Truck wouldn't start so I put in a new battery and acciedentley hooked up positive to negative posts. wipers came on without the truck key switch on. I unhooked the battery posts and hooked it up correctly. Started the truck, but the battery light stayed on. Drove 20 minutes and the lights, etc. were getting weak, etc. Problem??

Maybe the main Ignition relay in your fuse box or on the firewall. Faulty relay can cause intermittent no-power situations.

Hi: Have run into same type of problem, turned out to be a dead or very battery. Has nothing to do with the ignitin switch. With a low battery have also had trouble getting the key out of a 95 Jimmy. Boost unit to get running then discommect battery, if unit stall right away replace alternator, if stays running replace battery. If you get the unit runnimg and try to drive it as is you should find lacks power and wants to stall.

Sound like it could be the purge valve, it is located between the cab and the box on the drivers side, it has a plug and a hose going to it. It has a small foam filter in it which must be removed, cleaned, dried and then reinstalled.
It happened to me.
I don't remember if I had to remove the neg. post off the battery for a minute or so to reset the fault code.

Some lights do that on my chrysler they'll stay on for up to a minute that shouldn't kill your battery. As long as they go off you should be ok
