Maybe the main Ignition relay in your fuse box or on the firewall. Faulty relay can cause intermittent no-power situations.

SOURCE: 2000 GMC Jimmy won't start

Hi: Have run into same type of problem, turned out to be a dead or very battery. Has nothing to do with the ignitin switch. With a low battery have also had trouble getting the key out of a 95 Jimmy. Boost unit to get running then discommect battery, if unit stall right away replace alternator, if stays running replace battery. If you get the unit runnimg and try to drive it as is you should find lacks power and wants to stall.

SOURCE: 2005 SIERRA 1500 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON (STEADY)

Sound like it could be the purge valve, it is located between the cab and the box on the drivers side, it has a plug and a hose going to it. It has a small foam filter in it which must be removed, cleaned, dried and then reinstalled.
It happened to me.
I don't remember if I had to remove the neg. post off the battery for a minute or so to reset the fault code.

Some lights do that on my chrysler they'll stay on for up to a minute that shouldn't kill your battery. As long as they go off you should be ok

My truck is not charging i put brand new battery & alternator on it when i turn it of i need to boost it back up

You need to jump start it next day , is that what your trying to say ? When you turn it off you need to boost - jump start same thing when next day ? It's not your battery or alternator , you have a parasitic draw ! Something it draining your battery , a light is on a control module is not powering down ! You need to hook up a amp meter between the battery negative cable an post to see how much draw is happening ! Then you pull fuse's till the draw goes away ! parasitic draw test Bing Videos

Put in a new battery last November and now you go to start it it just clicks

Check the battery terminals, and battery posts, they may need to be cleaned. Your local parts store sells a battery post and terminal cleaner brush. When disconnecting the battery besure not to cause any sparks and if you smoke put it out before starting any battery maintence. Take the negative terminal off first, clean but dont put it back on yet. take the positive terminal of and clean both the terminal and the battery post.. Have someone with a volt meter check the voltage in the battery, if it measures 12volts, if available, then install the positive terminal first, then the negative post last taking care not to create any sparks. Once that is done try to start the car. If it starts, you have fixed it. If not, then you will have to move on to the starter solenoid.on the left inner fender, the other end of the positive batery terminal cable hooks to it. Again take the negative battery terminal off and replace the solenoid. Pay close attention where the wires came off of. Once you have replaces the solenoid, hook the negative terminal back on to the battery. This should take care of the problem, If not then you have to take the starter off and take it to you local parts store and have it tested they will tell you if it is bad. That is the last thing in the starting circuit that will cause the clicking noise. I hope this information help you to sovle you problem.

My car starts only when boosted

Measure the voltage across the car battery with a volt meter with the alternator running .. It needs to read 13.4 volts or higher to charge the battery.

Can you boost off a 99 crown victoria battery

Yes, you can. Be advised to hook the positive cable to the positive posts first ( + ) on both batteries, then the negative cable to the "good" battery negative post ( - ) next, then to the "bad" battery's negative post.
It is preferable to do the last step hookup to the engine block (or somewhere else that is steel) than the bad battery to prevent a spark which very rarely can make an explosion.
Also remember. Your alternator is not a battery charger. Therefore, if and when you decide to "boost" someone else off, after you hook up the cables you may well need to have your car engine running about 1,500 RPM and leave the cables to the "bad" battery on for about 5 minutes.

Have the charging system checked,Battery voltage(car not running) should be 12 volts,or less if battery is not fully charged. With engine running voltage should be close to 14 volts. use a dc volt meter and connect to positive and negative battery post.

Sounds like a main fuse has blown. Might be an inline type, a pin type or a fuse link. Usually near the positive post on the battery or under hood

Try boosting the van.If that works then you either need to clean the cables and battery posts or you need a battery. If boosting it does not work then you may need a starter or the cables to it have came loose, also the engine ground could be the culprit,if this is true then put your booster cables in this configuration;positive to positive and negative from the boosting cars negative post to your engine's block, find a good clean grounding point on the block and hook the clamp there. If the van starts then clean the factory ground point, replace the cable end,or replace the cable.Let me know if none of this info helps and i will give you more things to try.

I am trying to use my 2002 Pontiac Montana to boost another car

scouter, You can put the negative cable on an engine bolt or bracket. Be sure you hook up the negative last, we don't want sparks near the battery.
Good luck.
