Instrument cluster went blank

The digital instrument cluster for fuel data and a/c info went blank. I've checked all fuses both under dash and hood and looked for damaged or burnt wires under dash and to the headlight switch and all looks okay. What would you suggest?

1992 Cadillac DeVille - I smelled something burning and all the instrument lights went out. Found that the board in the fuel data center was the problem. Well, I replaced it and still no lights or no blower for a/c.

I have this same problem and was wondering if I replaced the entire instrument cluster would this fix the problem ? Would my A/C and fuel gauge work again ?

I am currently working on my 92 Deville with the same problem. I was driving along, and smelled what I felt was a smoking printed circuit board. I looked down, and the digital fuel data center and climate control panel were dark.

I have the factory shop manual, and with the aid of a meter and the manual, I traced the problem to a bad BCM. The 16v supply coming from the BCM was gone. Opened up the BCM and found an overheated transistor. I also removed the fuel data center and the Climate control panel. The fuel data center panel did not smell good. I found a shorted capacitor on the Fuel data center circuit board. I am replacing the capacitor, and will be picking up a used BCM at the boneyard tomorrow. I might also have an overheated wire in a cable that might have to be replaced. I have not gotten that far in the troubleshooting yet.

Good luck with your problem.......

2003 cadillac seville speedometer, odometer ,cluster went blank what module went bad ?

That would hard to say without hooking up a factory or some other professional scan tool an checking for codes , an checking input data to the instrument cluster . Speedo an odometer info comes to the instrument cluster over class 2 serial data network . Do you know what that is ? Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop.

Why isn't my fuel gauge not working and low fuel light comes on also my interior lights don't come on anymore checked the fuses and it didn't fix it

What make , model an year vehicle ? Most of these functions are controlled by a body computer on newer vehicle's , newer meaning 2000 on up. Sending unit in the fuel take can be a direct input to the instrument cluster microprocessor or to the PCM/ECM engine computer . If it is input to PCM/ECM this info. is sent to the cluster over a serial data network . The instrument cluster can set an store DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Taking your vehicle to a qualified repair shop mite be the smart thing to do.

Buick century 2000 instrument cluster wire harness diagram

http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on body & accessories ,then under subsystem click on instrumentation , Click the search button then the blue link.
Don't know what problem you are having , could help you out if you listed problem . The instrument cluster is a electronic module ,has a microprocessor inside . The gauges display info. come's to the instrument cluster via class 2 serial data network from the PCM/ECM - engine computer . Factory or professional scan tool can communicate with the instrument cluster , view data , read DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . If you don't know this , your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.
You won't find wires for fuel sending unit , this info. is sent to the PCM/ECM an sent over single wire class 2 data bus.

Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge
The Power Control Module (PCM) broadcasts the coolant temperature value via the class 2 serial data line. The instrument cluster compares the temperature data using a 16 point look-up table in order to determine the needle deflection. A smooth filter is used in order to secure a continuous response. The instrument cluster drives the temperature gauge to C (cold) under the following conditions:
• The temperature data is lost.
• The PCM is in a state of health fault.

Fuel Gauge
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) broadcasts the fuel level data via the class 2 serial data line. The instrument cluster compares the fuel data using a 16 point look-up table in order to determine the needle deflection. A smooth filter is used in order to secure a continuous response. The instrument cluster may determine if a low fuel condition is present. In the event of a low fuel condition, the following conditions may occur:
• The instrument cluster shall activate the LOW FUEL indicator.
• Send a chime message to the Body Control Module (BCM).
The instrument cluster may drive the fuel gauge to E (empty) under the following conditions:
• The fuel level data is lost.
• The PCM is in a state of health fault.

Speedometer and Odometer
The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a gear-driven permanent magnet generator housed in the transaxle. The sensor generates a sine wave output with a frequency proportional to the vehicle speed. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses this information to generate a vehicle speed signal that is sent through the class 2 serial data link; the instrument cluster then is able to utilize this data for the operation of:
• The speedometer
• The odometer

Data Link Communications Operation
Class 2 Serial Data Link
The Class 2 serial data link is used so the following modules can communicate data with each other:
• The Body Control Module (BCM)
• The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)
• The Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM)
• The Instrument Panel Cluster
• The Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
• The Heater-A/C Control

02 cavalier no power on dash, cranks, no start

no power on dash ???? When you turn the key on the instrument cluster warning light's don't come on ? Check engine light , ABS , air bag etc.... Looking at wiring diagrams an using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test power & ground circuit's for the instrument cluster , hooking up a scan tool to see if the computers on the vehicle communicate , BCM , PCM , instrument cluster . A faulty instrument cluster can cause a crank no start problem .Bring down the class 2 serial data network . Do you know what that is ? All the modules on the vehicle talk with each other on the class 2 bus. Checking to see if the PCM is functional , check for 5volt ref, voltage at TPS - throttle position sensor .

Where does the voltage come from for the dashboard gauges grand caravan 2003. Have no gauges Checked fuses and relays all are good. Looked over wiring diagrams but looked like computers are together.

Do the light's on the instrument cluster work ? Fuse #24 - 20 amp location intergrated power module , under hood fuse box . Probably the instrument cluster it's self is bad , but without testing that would be a guess . Hooking up a factory or professional scan tool to view input's to the instrument cluster would be the proper way to diagnose. Gauge info to the Instrument come's over PCI serial data bus . A communication network for the control modules on the vehicle . Gauge info. come's from the PCM - powertrain control module. Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop ,dealer etc....

Instrument panel went dead

Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

If the instrument cluster is getting battery voltage, then this means that the instrument cluster needs to be replaced. Only availible at the dealer.
