Fix your car right away by clicking the link I attached 2002 kia
SOURCE: can't get the car out of park. have pressed on the brake but still stuck in park
the same thing happen to me you have to take the plastic shifter knob off the plastic pice inside broke i bet
SOURCE: key is stuck shiftr doesnt lock in to release it
the linkage is bound up and your key wont come out until its in park get it to a garage fast
SOURCE: My 2002 kia sedona is stuck in park. The gear
shifter cable either broke or came disconnected
SOURCE: Sometimes when I put my 2000 kia sportage in park,
Sounds like a messed up the shift linkage, and its possible that need just one adjust or repaired it. There is a paw in the transmission that lock the
transmission when in park. If you recently make any repair its possible that the technician broke the paw by slaming the
transmission in park while it was still moving. It could be an expensive
repair if they have to go into the tranny.
Keep us updated.

these systems have solenoid which is controlled by the brake pedal.the solenoid should b located underneath shifter.u have to remove trim panels on shifter , access the solenoid and check for power an ground at solenoid with key on and brake pedal depressed. the solenoid unlocks the shifter gate that loks out gears until the brake pedal is depressd therefore allowing u to shift the shifter. not really hard to do.jus need to b careful on popping out plastic trim pieces and know how to nuse an voltmeter or test light. if u have power an ground at solenoid safe to say solenoid bad. also try tappin on solenoid while checking volts to see if it starts to work.if it does solenoid is bad
