Power Steering fluid leak/spray

This is a link to a picture of where I think Power Steering Fluid is spraying out of when I turn the car on. I think it is coming from the item labeled as A. I would like to know what the parts are called labeled A, C, and D. Can anyone please help? I don't think I can drive the car because the spray is covering the alternator and it is starting to smoke. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s320x320/388714_2157244060751_1535972346_31705393_2141855575_n.jpg

If it's not a serpetine belt, max deflection of 3/4" on longest segment should be safe,  don't make alternator belt tight as a drum or you will burn out alternator bearings quickly.  If it has serpentine belt, the spring tensioner should keep the belt properly tensioned unless it's worn out.
It only needs to be tight enough to not slip, too loose will squeal and you will have to tighten,  to tight will kill alternator and you will spend $$.

SOURCE: leak under car (front driver's side)

What is the colour of the oil? Power steering oil will be red in colour or match it with the oil from powersteering oil reservoir. Its easy to locate powersteering pump. as it is driven by drive belts. So look around it and check for leaks. If no leaks, follow the hoses as far as you can and see if you can find leaks. You can also get underneath the car with a light and try to trace the leak.

SOURCE: Noisy Power Steering Pump

I doubt it is the fluid. I would guess more likely that the pump is going bad. If it is making a whining sould all the time or when steering at a stop, the pump is beginning to fail.

Why is my power steering reservoir loosing fluid, what would cause the fluid to be "foamy" on top, and what should I use to fill it with?

spray down pump and hoses with degreaser and wash off. After its dry, use recomended fluid to fill. Start engine and turn steering wheel all the way left, and all the way right a couple of times. This will blead the air from the system. Now shut off and check fluid. Make sure it is full. Now drive the car down the road and make turns, and drive it back and check fluid level. If its still foamy and not leaking fluid, your pump ma be bad.

Kia rio 2004 The power steering fluid container was full and as I was driving I heard a pop some where in the engine I check everything and I was completely out of steering fluid I filled it up and turn...

Has the steering gone heavy? if the reservoir is empty and you top it up then it must have a substantial leak.If you cant see any fluid on the floor then it maybe that the leak is internal in the power steering rack.

How do I know if my Power steering unit(?) has to be replaced

no power steering fluid would cause the pump to overheat, damaging seals.
the foam might have been pump cavitation causing injestion of air in the fluid, (makes the hydro fluid "frothy")
spraying ANY lubricant on the belts will cause them to slip and make a squeaking/squealing noise.

check the location of the leak, wipe down the hoses (cheap causes for leaks) fill the power steering. put some newspapers under the car, start the car, turn the wheels lock to lock, shut off car, check for leaks, should tell you if it is a hose or connection, or rack unit

There is a loud "whining"

Power steering pumps whine when they are low on fluid, or if they are goin bad. Serpentine belts also whine in cold weather or when they are goin bad. Tru spraying just a little WD40 on the belts when its running, if it goes away, you should be thinking about a new belt. If nothing changes, check the power steering fluid, if its full, take to a mechanic

Power steering leak

To try to find the leak, purchase a spray can of engine cleaner and spray the entire area of the pump and hoses. Then wash off with a garden hose. Fill pump reservoir with fluid. Have someone turn the steering wheel while you look in that area of the pump and hoses with a flashlight for the leak. Be careful of rotating fan and belts!

Steering fluid liquid is leaking on the alternator. how do you clean it

Address the leak, power steering fluid is flammable and you may have a engine fire if the fluid run's in to something hot enough to flash the fluid to ignite. You can spray brake parts cleaner to clean the area before you start the repair. Good luck and hope this helps, note there will be lots of mess under the car.

Orange fluid leak (most likely power steering fluid)

Check your hoses around your power steering resevoir, you might have a pin hole leake in one of the hoses. Make sure to keep an eye on the fluid level. As long as you keep fluid in it you won't burn out the pump.
