To offer a wild guess: is your engine oil the right type for this car & the weather its in? These use 10w40 unless in colder weather alot. As an engine wears it is necessary to pick an oil suitable to an older engine. There is a few high mileage oils on the market. Rumour has it Mobil 1 is the best but expensive. Synthetic might be necessary. Feel free to experiment. Best of luck!
Go by the manufacture's recommendation as far as type and weight. As far as brand, it is subjective. Any major brand should have the proper amount of additives. If you are trying to decide between synthetic and dino oil, either is good as long as you faithfully change them at the recommended intervals. With older vehicles, synthetics seem to "find leaks".
It could be. The best is just follow your instruction manual on what type the oil should used on your car. But since your car is has the year 2006, it should use specs. API... SL or SM. The viscosity will has range 5W30 -10W40.
Again don't get be cheated by the newest oil products, The best oil for your car is the one recommended on your manual in many aspects.

The best oil is the Synthetic type oil that one can get through Walmart or an auto parts store. However, if the car hasn't been using synthetic type, it's a good idea to creep up on it using a mixture of synthetic and regular oil.
However, I have a couple of Cadillac Devilles that use regular oil and I've never had any problems with it.
I wouldn't use synthetic unless there is a sticker that specifically says to use it under the hood.
Most American cars don't need synthetic.
Some Porsches, BMW's, Mercedes Benz and higher end performance cars recommend synthetic for use all of the time. Good luck on choosing the best grade of oil for your Lincoln LS.
best to use fully synthetic oil, it stays thick at high temp, , as older engines tend to be a little hotter, this would be the best option....i find castrol magnatec to be one of the best
